First time ever watching this. I tried to get into it, especially given Mel Brooks’ track record. But I couldn’t ever really feel a flow with it nor found myself laughing like normal at a Brooks’ property. I didn’t get the same feel for this movie as the rest of the Brooks’ properties. What am I missing?

Watch it again. It’s one of the 10 greatest comedies ever made. This might be my favorite comedic exchange in cinematic history.
Igor: “You know, I’ll never forget my old dad. When these things would happen to him... the things he’d say to me...”
Frankenstein: “...What did he say?”
Igor: “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN THE BATHROOM ALL DAY AND NIGHT?! WHY DON’T YOU GET OUT OF THERE AND GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE?!”

written by Gene Wilder. But the movie has some of the best performances ever in a Brook film...

Have you seen most of the Universal Frankenstein movies its parodying? I feel like you gain a lot if you've seen the original Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Son of Frankenstein, Ghost of Frankenstein, Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman, and House of Frankenstein.

Probably the only off-putting thing about that movie for me is the amount of yelling Gene Wilder does when delivering his lines, but not enough to make me not think it's one of Mel Brooks best movies.
The entire cast of main characters is great with Wilder, Feldman, Kahn, Leachman, Garr, Boyle and Kenneth Mars as the great Inspector Kemph with the mechanical arm.
Gene Hackman as the old blind man is funny as hell for his short part in the movie.

Not hyperbole when I say one of the greatest comedies of all time.

A sense of humor? Sophistication? I’m sorry there isn’t more farting in the movie. Maybe you should stick with cartoons.

Terri Garr is a smoke show in that movie. It could be the character and accent tho

I’m sorry, anyone who can’t find that hilarious, then there’s something wrong with you.

Alright. I’ll give it another watch or two. I don’t know if it was my mood or what, but I was expecting to be laughing from the get go like any other Mel Brooks film.
