This and The Jerk are top notch comedies that don't get talked about enough

This will be sacrilege, but I never enjoyed the Jerk. And I like a good deal of Steve Martin’s work.

Like several have already said, give it another shot. It could be you just wasn't in the mood at the time, that happens to me sometimes with both movies and music.

Young Frankenstein is definitely one of the classic comedies of all time

I mean, I hear you. I know people love it. Just doesn’t hit my funny bone. Don’t know what it is. I have similar taste to a lot of people in this thread, but that one doesn’t do it for me.

Really? Horse glue.

I just learned that today. Thank you.

Not true, unfortunately.

Simply a gag playing off the common use of camera cuts with thunder and lightning to show horror on the face of characters in old horror films and to call into question just what Blücher does to those poor horses off screen.

D'oh! SHouldve scrolled through bf commenting.

I loved that movie as a kid but was equally scared (for lack of a better word) by certain elements of it like the black and white format, the violin music, etc.

First time I saw it, I was like *eh*. The second time I was . Guess you have to be in the right mood and not take it too seriously.

I’m coming to the conclusion in this thread that Igor is probably the funniest character in cinematic history. Every single one of his lines is funny. Marty Feldman was born to play that role.

For his part, Gene Hackman was perfect.

I forgot where I read or saw it, but this role was one of his first attempts at comedy on film.

And you're right, he nailed it perfectly.

He was involved in the two, main "Almost Mel Brooks" films, at least in my opinion.

He co-wrote and directed The Last Remake of Beau Geste, as well as starring alongside Michael York and Ann Margaret (I think the film predicted Twins, as his and York's characters were "identical" twins).

Also, what I always refer to as a hybrid Mel Brooks/Monty Python film, Yellowbeard features Marty in the ensemble, and he died during filming.

Marty Feldman stole nearly every scene he was in, if not the film itself.

Feldman should have been one of the Pythons. He improvised the bathroom line on the set.

I love Young Frankenstein. It's one of my favorites. But, I know how you feel when you have a different opinion of a movie than most people. I like Blazing Saddles. I think it's a good funny movie, but I don't put it nearly as high as the vast majority of people.
