This isn't anything really.

You still have upper management and still have people not on equal pay.

ESOP is great as long as the company remains profitable and solvent.

If not, shares become worthless.

Imagine the theft that occurs on a daily basis at the Winbourne location.

I forgot about Delchamps. Yes they were there second by K&B at Jones Creek and TigerBend.

Delchamps was always more expensive though.

Really miss K&B

The old Plank Road K&B. A lot of local shoppers still miss K&B.

Rouses is the polar opposite of Target and Wal Mart. WTF are you talking about?

Wal Mart has the largest share of the grocery market in most metros where it competes. Like it or not, it's a major competitor and serious threat to grocery stores.

Or did you not get that memo from 1995?

Not in Ascension
Rouses has the Ascension market along with the local mom and pop places

I would put that Rouses in Prairieville (Airline location) up against any store in the southeast. That's where we mainly do our weekly shopping. The meat is better there, fresh fruits and veggies, fresh seafood, the prepared meals are good, etc.

They were supposed to put one near Lockhart. Hi Nabor is cleaner than Carters FACT.

The new Carter’s is going to be nice, they haven’t started it yet
There was only so much that could be done with the layout of the original store
They are good people

I wish Oak Point would open a store in the Albertsons building

The Winbourne store was the original. I lived a half block away from it, next to the owners, before I was 5 (when the neighborhood wasn't scary). They are very nice people. I haven't been to that store in decades.

Thanks, Captain Obvious.

But there is a certain segment of people who don't shop at Walmart anymore. It's not like Rouses is hurting for business. And Rouses is pretty much all over South Louisiana.

Mine also.

I make it a serious point to stay out of Wal Warts as much as possible.

The Jones Creek store
They finished up a renovation there not long ago. It's not a Rouses, but it's pretty nice for a neighborhood AG market. Especially when you're used to Champagne's.

You are the one that wasn't aware of Wal Mart's impact on the grocery business.

Yep. If Walmart wanted to charge more for their products, they'd have to match the experience and convenience of a Rouses (or Publix, Kroger, Mariano's, etc. depending on the regional market). Which they can't do because Wal Mart's shopping experience is miserable by default.

No one said they were.

They are the only local chain that can really afford the best new locations and go head to head with Wal Mart. The independent stores are usually much smaller, and in areas where a large super center could never go.

In other markets, Kroger or Publix is the big player countering Wal Mart.

Pretty soon it will be Amazon Fresh.

Oak Point, Rouses and Carters

I don’t know about Oak Point but Rouses and Carter’s prices are high as shite. I’m sure Hi-Nabor is also high because you pay for the convenience of shopping in a smaller local grocery store. I would be surprised if they are as high as Rouses and Carter’s
