I can't imagine what the Winbourne Ave store looks like. I've never been to it for obvious reasons.

I stumbled into that location about 5-6 years ago. I was on my way to the airport and had about an hour to kill, so I thought I would stop in and get a couple of documents notarized since I knew they have always had a notary on site.

It was damned atrocious. I have never seen a filthier looking grocery store. The floors looked like they had never been mopped. The lights in the entire store were very dim. And there was a smell to the place that wasn't very welcoming. I stood in line for about a minute, then said "frick it" and left.

And on top of that, the parking lot was in a shambles. It had craters about the size of which you see on the moon. Lots of holes. And the whole place was just very sad in general.

I don’t know about Oak Point but Rouses and Carter’s prices are high as shite.

I’ve never been to Carter’s - but oak point and rouses are really good. My husband grew up with Rouse’s so we were happy when they moved into the Baton Rouge area.

Hi Nabor sucks. Prices are high and quality is terrible. People love it, I’ve just had many, many bad experiences.

Although if you want to complain about high prices - albertson’s is the worst, although their sale prices are usually good. And I hate Walmart. They’ve singled handedly ruined America.

The only place my Grandma shopped until the mid 90’s when my Dad & Uncle forbid her to go anymore

I’ve gone in and out of there all my life and used to get plate lunches at the deli when I worked on that side of town. That store is as busy if not more busy than the other two.

And if you want good deals on pork it’s where to go. Tell Dot at the deli I said hello.

IIRC, they had to renovate completely a couple of years back.

For the longest time I thought that their jingle was "Hi Nabor be your money saver" because they were trying to be all ethnic with their customer base.

Did it smell like a combination of spoiled beer, soul glow, and a handful of trees that you hang on the mirror in the car?

Winco is employee-owned as well. The customers there make Wal-Mart shoppers appear aristocratic by comparison, but the prices are incredibly low.

Actually, they have. One of my customers started the dirt work for the pad a couple weeks ago. Should be a nice store.

I find that every single Albertson's I've stepped into from childhood to now smells like old seafood. Even the newly renovated ones. I assume it is because they do those crab legs and whatnot, while most other stores don't.

I went to the Albertsons on highland and airline frequently when I lived over there - one day I went and the seafood cooking thing had broke I had almost had to leave

Although the stench wasn’t as bad as the constant smell of the Asian supermarket on the West Bank of NOLA - wow
