You can applaud the speed at which vaccine became available for people that wanted it, and still not want to get said vaccination at the same time.
Why would you applaud the speed if you don't trust the product?
Kinda hard to reconcile that.

How so? They have roughly a year’s worth of data (trials started around this time last year). How much time do you need?

It usually takes years of testing to approve a new vaccine. This one was developed and deployed within a year. Now as to the dummies that elect to take this untested vaccine, well that is your call. (and thanks for being the Guinea pigs, someone had too.)
Every doctor I know has taken it so if there is some impending doom down the road associated with the vaccine then we’re all screwed anyway because there will be no one left to treat us.

You’ll still need that mask

Got my first one recently and I'm already not looking forward to the 2nd shot.
I had Covid in October, and it felt like the shot brought back the extreme exhaustion I felt in the month or so after I was sick. Whether that was legit, or just my brain fricking with me, idk.
Thankfully my 2nd shot is on a Friday, so I just can mope around for the weekend if I feel like shite.
Just thankful we are getting a ton of shots in arms.
Can't wait for a normal football season this Fall

Not fully trusting the product given your risk factor would be more accurate.

There was an interesting article in the WSJ about this a week or so ago. Basically besides the people who are adamant about not getting the shot to begin with, you have a large contingent who are on the fence about it and are deciding not to since everybody else is getting it and cases are going way down. Governors in a lot of states are very irritated because appts are going unfulfilled. That's why they are opening it up to everybody. The demand for the shot is dropping rapidly.

If you got a reaction after the first shot because you'd already had covid at some point, the second shot won't be anywhere near as bad. At least it wasn't for me.

No, it was perfectly accurate as is. There is no point in cheering for red tape to cease to exist if you don't trust the product delivered. If you need the full however many years it would have taken before to feel comfortable with the product, the speed to develop the product is completely irrelevant to you.

Because millions of other people were clamoring for a vaccine. And the idea was that once a vaccine was available, then we could start opening up from the lockdowns. I was opposed to the lockdowns from the start. If having a vaccine did away with them, I'm all for it. Even if I have no plans of getting the vaccine.

Why would the vaccine change anything if many millions don't get it?

We have a flu vaccine for decades that millions don't get, but we've never had lockdowns. What "should" happen, for people to feel comfortable getting on with our lives, is to have a vaccine available for people to decide to take if they think it's in their best interests. That seemed to be the solution presented by the government/medical community that would end the pandemic (we were never going to get it "under control". I was a proponent of herd immunity from the get go.

This virus isn't the flu no matter how many times people try to make that connection. I know that isn't the main point of your post, but it makes it hard to take you seriously when you imply the comparison.

I'd hope mots people's version of "should happen" is similar. Unfortunately, that isn't the reality we live in.

I guess I still have to wear a mask though.

Which is transmitted easier? That would seem to be the main issue (if not the only one) in comparing the two vis a vis vaccination numbers and efficacy as to overall transmission on the population at large.

This is definitely the next step. I think we'll get to about 50% of adults vaccinated pretty steadily and then it'll slow down some because of those who are either on the fence or just plain anti-vax.

This is not directed at you so dont settle in for a 4 day argument with me...I just happened to respond to your post....
For the people that got the vaccine.... how has your life changed since getting the vaccine vs someone's life who hasnt gotten the vaccine?
Posted on 3/29/21 at 12:20 pm to tigerskin
I have the vaccine, my parents and in-laws have the vaccine. Hospitalization numbers have collapsed.
It's not worth living under these sanctions for me.
