Happens every day. Fatass has a heart attack and dies from years of poor diet and lack of exercise. Do we shut down the world to save him?

Point being a vaccine is now available. People make the choice to get it or not. If they don't, the risk that comes with contracting the virus is on them...not society as a whole. Now that we've got a vaccine, open it up and let natural selection run it's course

Good. Now we can start to consider allowing limited capacity at larger events and let restaurants go to 50 or maybe 75%.

We still need to social distance and wear a mask

I don't think I said anything different.

I had people tell me if this was approved under the Trump administration, they wouldn't trust it.

I've also had a few tell me they wouldn't take it because it was developed so quickly, and will wait.

the more time that passes and the more data we get on the vaccines, the less talking points the anti vaxxers have

at some point, they will just have to fully embrace being an anti vaxxer

Lmao frick all that. I wore a mask and kept my distance. When I'm vaccinated, shite's wide open homie. Go get a shot if you don't want to be in danger.

I get my second shot on April 7, but my office is requiring masks when not at your desk.

TLDR: We have made it explicit that the vaccine is not going to make a difference to most Americans, so they won't come and now we had to re-write our messaging.

I guess I read this post as a criticism rather than a blanket observation.

I guess I'm over the hysterics that we can't open up because not enough people are getting the vaccine because they're waterheaded science deniers. A vaccine is here. Open up...get it or don't get it. Obligation of responsibility has shifted from collective society to the individual now.

Part of it is politics. I think some of these people wanted Trump to get the win by getting the vaccine developed quickly so the left would be forced to recognize that he came in ahead of schedule and succeeded, however, that expedited process made them even more wary of the potential side effects of the vaccine.

It is a criticism. I called them dummies earlier in the thread as well.

My personal feeling is that once we have a vaccine open to everyone for at least 2 months, there should be absolutely no need for restrictions of any kind, anywhere. If you don't get the vaccine, that is on you.

HOWEVER: the government types will 100% shift from Covid numbers to vaccination rates as their basis for restrictions.

Yep. JBE gets wet reading some the anti vaxxer posts made here and other places.
