Use North Blvd.

Or Florida.

The road diet is supposed to keep you off government street, you plebe.

Well frick you, CPEX. I've been using gov't street my entire life and now you've fricked it up.

I said this would happen. also, what's up with the planters they failed to install near 22nd? Also, what is so hard about putting down street markings. finish the got damn project. yeah I'm mad.

and while I'm mad, why the hell can't we finish Acadian already? And the repairs on corporate aren't any better than the pot holes.

don't bring that up on Nextdoor. You will be swarmed by Karen's, SJW millenials and knowitalls telling you how brilliant it is and how stupid you are for questioning it.

As far as I can see, all it did was provide a turning lane for those roads that were no left turn on like Acadian. Complete nonsense. As is tradition.

I drive on Government all the time, and I can pretty confidently say that the average day now is better than the average day before construction started. And construction isn't over.

It's like people have somehow already forgotten how bad traffic used to be on government before the "road diet" was even dreamed up.

There was a thread a while back about this and I was told that it was great. I lived in that area and used Government daily about 8 years ago and traffic wasn't as bad as it was the last few few times I was down Government the past few months.

You expected something named Government to be smooth and easy going?

There is no reason to use Government street as a thru street. Only use it if you live off of it or are visiting a business on it.

for those who live in the area and use it constantly, the government street project is wonderful. for those who hope to get off the interstate but still drive 65 to downtown, not so much. the purpose was traffic calming. it worked. Florida is still wide and fast, and north blvd. flows freely.

the message has always been clear, if you're looking for speed, go elsewhere. if you're looking to shop, eat and drink in a great atmosphere, and be able to walk and bike to those places, you came to the right spot. when the road is completed and the restaurants/bars/shops recover from covid, it will be a very attractive destination.

people went insane when discussions started about making capital heights a one-way street. that single change returned the area to a vital bustling neighborhood. Government st. improvements will achieve similar results for a larger area.

People who think road diets are a good idea are the same people who think having gay trannies read stories to kids at libraries is a good idea.

I do like the roundabout at Lobdell and Govt St. People are still figuring it out, but it's noticably faster for me and I've gone thru that intersection every day for 30 years.

Everywhere is right now. The country just opened up and the weather is good. I assure you it's not just Govt. Highland, Siegen, Perkins, Sherwood, Jefferson, all heavy traffic as of 8 am this morning.
Also there's a huge rasslin meet at the River Center this weekend. So lots of them families are going up and down Government for lunch and snackins.

Relax, put your windows down and blast some Belinda Carlisle.
