Yes. He was the singer and he led the shows. Would be the same case for Sting and I would think most would consider him to be the frontman for Police.
I would think a band like the Eagles would be a band with no real frontman. Different people singing songs and leading things in a show.

I know that they were huge, but he needs to get over himself. I've never been a fan of his singing voice and he's had a whopping one hit(which was a pretty shitty song) in the 50 years or so since CCR disbanded.

IIRC, Tom Fogertys widow showed up to the rock n roll hall of fame induction under the impression the rest of the group would be reuniting to play so she shows up with his ashes and everything. Instead she finds out that John last minute barred the reunion and got up there and played with a bunch of other people. Complete dick move.

Great episode. James Brown bought Bootsy a bass (whatever you want, kid), then made him give it back when he left the band.
Bootsy’s new album has some funky tunes worth a listen.

The memoir published by Lovin' Spoonful bassist Steve Boone does not paint a terribly flattering portrait of John Sebastian.
Sebastian has been less than gracious to the other band members over the years, though he's probably a minor league a-hole compared to some people mentioned in this thread.

He was CCR. Every hit they had was bc of him. You could have switched out all the other band members and they would have been just as successful
