the OP got it backward his 12th grade year (1982). LSU dominated Bama 20-10 in Birmingham. I was there as an LSU freshman. Incredible day.

I blame Bill Belicheck. Saban idolized him and is the reason why he wanted to be an NFL coach. If Saban doesn’t decide to go to the dolphins, he is still with LSU dominating college football. Zero chance Bama would have him ever.

Because they are better than us in football, beat us most years and have now started consistently beating us in most other sports. I hate losing.

basketball is 8-12 over the last 10 years
we pretty much mop the floor with them every year in baseball since 2008 or so

O has locked down LA the last 2 years. There isn't one kid in state we wanted that we haven not gotten that last two.
Bama came HARD after Boutte, Roy, Guillory, Ryan and many others and struck out.

LSU then won 4 of the next 7 (with 1 tie) from 1982-1988.
LSU then lost 7 of the next 8 (we won in 1993).
We shut out the subhumans in 1997 27-0, then lost 2 heartbreaking head-scratchers in 1998 and 1999.
LSU then won 9 of the next 12 from the gumpnecks, including 5 in a row from 2003-2007.

From 2000-2006 people stopped hating them on campus. People worried more about USC who we didn’t even play. I told everyone just wait till Bama is good again. Now people get it.
