re: Have to admit LK was impressive in press conference, so what's realistic 1st year goal?
Posted by chimneylooker on 12/5/25 at 9:39 am to homemadeshine
9-3 is best case scenario. This team needs a major overhaul on offense and it's appearing the defense will get a new staff too so we need to be realistic. I don't see this team playoff ready for at least 2 years.

At this point I’d rather have Dillingham. Dude is young and has already shown he can coach. Also, he comes with no baggage.

Personally Dillingham is 1st on my list. Dude is young and has already shown he can coach without the baggage that comes with Kiffin. I won't complain if Kiffin ends up here but at this point i'm higher on Dillingham

re: Take recency bias out of the equation, who you taking: Etling or Nuss?
Posted by chimneylooker on 10/23/25 at 8:50 am to Footballguy1800
Give Nuss the same running game that Etling has and Nuss doubles his numbers. I really liked Etling and he brought some stability to a position that was horrific but Nuss is much better than what we're seeing now.
re: Here is the NCAA Catch Rule...interpret it as you will...

I talked to an SEC official and asked him about that play. He said that since the player was on the way down while making the catch he needed to survive the ground through the catch. As soon as it bobbled it was an incompletion or if he had kept it off the ground but bobbled it he would have been out of bounds by the time he secured the catch.

re: An interesting interview with Gerry DiNardo
Posted by chimneylooker on 8/26/25 at 1:06 pm to misey94
I've always loved and appreciated DiNardo. While his stint overall wasn't the greatest, he had a passion for LSU and originally "brought back the magic". His main fault was he was too loyal to guys who should have been let go. He began the change in mentality in the football program that Saban took to another level. LSU is better off because of DiNardo.

Dude, we'll cry if we win because it didn't happen the way we thought it should. The only way we won't be crying is if LSU wins by 30, which we all know isn't happening.

I ran it through chatgpt just to see what it'd say. Here's the result:
Let’s start with the **8 LSU Baseball National Championship teams**:
### ?? LSU Baseball National Titles:
1. **1991**
2. **1993**
3. **1996**
4. **1997**
5. **2000**
6. **2009**
7. **2023**
8. **2025** *(latest title)*
---
Now let’s break down a hypothetical **bracket battle**—single elimination, seeded loosely by historical dominance and MLB talent.
### ?? Tournament Seeding:
1. **2023** (Most talent-rich, beat Florida 18–4 in Game 3)
2. **2000** (Walk-off kings, legendary hitting lineup)
3. **1997** (Set HR record at the time, brutal power)
4. **2009** (Gritty, balanced, great pitching & defense)
5. **1996** (Warren Morris walk-off, clutch team)
6. **2025** (Newest champs, still TBD on how dominant in hindsight)
7. **1993** (Solid but overshadowed by later 90s teams)
8. **1991** (Trailblazers, but not as deep as later rosters)
---
### ?? Bracket:
#### Quarterfinals:
* **(1) 2023 vs (8) 1991**
Blowout. Dylan Crews, Paul Skenes, and Tommy White are too much.
**Winner: 2023**
* **(4) 2009 vs (5) 1996**
Tough matchup. But 2009 had stronger arms (Ranaudo, Coleman) and better depth.
**Winner: 2009**
* **(3) 1997 vs (6) 2025**
2025 team is fresh but unproven in comparison to the home run-happy ’97 squad.
**Winner: 1997**
* **(2) 2000 vs (7) 1993**
2000 team walks it off if needed. Better offense and big-game mentality.
**Winner: 2000**
---
#### Semifinals:
* **2023 vs 2009**
Great pitching duel, but 2023 has Skenes/Crews/White and the better offense.
**Winner: 2023**
* **1997 vs 2000**
Fireworks galore. Both teams could hit bombs at will.
Edge goes to 2000 for having clutch DNA and late-inning magic.
**Winner: 2000**
---
#### Championship:
* **2023 vs 2000**
This is *the* dream final.
* 2000: Brad Cresse, Wally Pontiff, and the walk-off bats.
* 2023: Paul Skenes on the mound, Dylan Crews in the outfield, and Tommy Tanks hitting bombs.
?? **Winner: 2023**
> **Why?**
> 2023 had the best blend of dominant pitching, elite offense, and MLB-ready talent. They crushed a very good Florida team in the CWS final and had arguably the greatest 1-2 punch (Crews/Skenes) in LSU history.
---
### ?? Final Ranking of All-Time LSU Champs (if they played today):
1. **2023**
2. **2000**
3. **1997**
4. **2009**
5. **1996**

Ohhhh says the hall of famer!!! That is the silliest argument ever Nobody who hasn’t played “upper level” sports can comment or have an opinion on that sport? You certainly don’t have upper level intellect
I didn’t say you can’t have an opinion. It’s just when it’s one as asinine as yours then it’s clear you haven’t played big time ball. If you had, you wouldn’t push for that. But by all means, keep saying dumb shite. It makes the rest of us laugh.

So how would you rule it then?
Anytime you make any movement it’s a swing?
Pretty much
Make so it’s obvious
Like you can only move a little bit.
Can a pitcher stop halfway and say I didn’t want to make that pitch?
So you've never played upper level baseball before. At upper levels you have to start swinging just as the pitcher is releasing the ball and stop yourself once you realize it's not a good pitch or the one you're looking for. Please stop posting and find a different sport to dissect. You clearly are off base (pun intended) on this one.

I'm an older guy (46) who loves the traditional white jerseys and not a huge fan of mixing it up. That being said, if the players love it and want a variety of jerseys then who cares? Let it be and quit yelling at the wind.

Brian Kelly's past also shows he can't win the big game either
The only reason people think this is because when he does win a big game the narrative changed that it wasn't really a big game. When he loses then people pump their chest saying he can't win a big one. It's a tired narrative that isn't true.
