They also miss the following as well;

The totality of the available data provides clear evidence that the Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine may be effective in preventing COVID-19.

There are sacrifices of liberty that are necessary to have a civil society, especially during an emergency. The denser that society becomes the more liberties will need to be sacrificed.
Your vision of what a civil society of the future looks like is an illusion and a joke if you think the clown show in DC can deliver it to you. You may not value freedom very much, but others do think it’s paramount to how we can ensure the optimal quality of life; and we think this line of thinking is going to lead to the destruction of the civil society you want to sustain.

Bad judgement, in the form of unnecessary business closures, are heavy handed and ill advised, but they are inevitable overreactions, not examples of totalitarianism.
It’s government overreach, and there should be safeguards to protect us from the government.
I am not an anarchist. I recognize the need for a set of common laws. But the goal of a society that wants to optimize quality of life for everyone is to create a minimally intrusive government. The government is typically a lumbering, inefficient beast that is mostly ineffective but can be extremely harmful the more they intrude into your life. I contend that less government interference would have gotten us through this pandemic in a much better place.

Someone posted that in the thread about only 1/3 of the military having taken it.

Have no desire to get that shot. Its less effective. Why would I choose a less effective one?

Primarily young and healthy? Certainly not obese, except in rare occasions. Maybe prone to giving value to conspiracy theories?

I've accepted mask mandates will become a real thing

I hope thats not the case. Perhaps I'm being overly optimistic, but I hope to be back to "normal" by Labor Day.
The vaccine supply is starting to ramp up. Although only about 13% of the population in LA has received their 1st dose, I expect those numbers to start to increase somewhat rapidly.
The J&J vaccine, while providing less protection than the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, requires only 1 dose and normal refrigeration. Its ideal for mass vaccination events like at Alario Center and the Convention Center. LCMC will likely have the Convetion Center site operating towards the end of the week. Thursday, maybe?

How does the J&J vaccine efficacy compare to the first shot of Pfizer and Moderna

The mRNA vaccine isnt new and wasn't "rushed". It was practically already on the shelf from research done during the SARS outbreak
The new part is that mRNA delivery of a vaccine had never been used on humans in our history and this is the first time it's ever been approved and used in mass vaccination.
I skipped the mRNA ones Friday, mainly bc the multiple shots (now they are talking about a 3rd and 4th booster) so I'll be getting the JJ one hopefully this week, I'm curious how long it takes to get out here in rural LA since we are only getting 37k doses next week

Gonna be honest, if I’m getting the vaccine the Johnson & Johnson one is my last choice. Only having to get one shot is good, but its effectiveness numbers seem to be well-below those of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.
I am the opposite. It will be the only one I consider. It is not RNA action based and is designed like the traditional flu vaccine. I am a Covid veteran. That may be part of it too.

It's 85% effective against moderate to severe COVID-19 that puts people in the hospital. My co-worker just got out from a near fatal COVID-19 reaction and he's only 42, that's good for me, I'm talking it

I hate to burst your bubble but J&J is currently working on a booster as well.

I believe Pfizer is 85% after the first dose. Not sure about Moderna.
J&J is 100% at preventing death in trials. I've heard a relatively wide range (from 66%, to 72%, and up to 85%) of efficacy after one dose on preventing moderate to severe disease.
I think it's pretty good for one dose, especially for younger people, say 40 to 50 and younger.

I for one am getting the vaccine because TRUMP helped create it through his leadership in Operation Warp Speed. I trust that it is both safe and effective due to his efforts.
TRUMP!
TRUMP!

I am liking the one shot. If it can just reduce the chance of a hospital stay, I am good with being down a few days.

You can frick right off. If there's any justice in this world, it's that your life will be ruined in the name of the above.
Sacks of shite like you are all about the sacrifice, until it's you who has to make the sacrifice.

Every functioning society has rules, the only difference between totalitarianism and the rest is the number of people having an (actual) say in the makeup of the rules.
Every individual will have a fuzzy line and a bright line where they are uncomfortable with the infringement of individual rights but almost no one in modern America is actually content with pure anarchy.
You simply have a line that vaccinations cross but I am sure you have plenty of lines where you are comfortable with loss of individual freedom.
