And remember, to make a great new orleans style poboy, you gotta be from new orleans

Friend,
I think you are mostly correct. There is one notable exception, Justin Kennedy. I believe he is from the MS Gulf Coast. His dad, though, who is through and through native, taught him all about poorboys, except their proper name. The only poorboy in Baton Rouge I tried was Rocco’s, which was pretty good. I assume the owner is from New Orleans.

Roccos. They use Leidenheimer bread too.
Also maybe Poboy Express. I haven't been in years, not sure why, but I remember the poboys being loaded with shrimp.

Rocco's is delicious. Poboy Express is ok but not really authentic NOLA style.

I thought you meant nola style roast beef when reading the title.

Never been impressed with Jed
Roccos is good
Poboy express makes a decent one too but it’s not like New Orleans

Off subject a little, but does anyone consider a Darrell's poboy in Lake Charles a poboy?
Because it aint a fricking poboy, it's a sandwich.

Well...isn't a poboy a sandwich? Is a hot dog once in a bun a sandwich?
Regardless these answers, the one thing I do know about Darrell's is it's one of the most overrated places on this board.
