Reason for optimism - DL:

Roy
Smith
Guillory
Logan
Farrell
BJ
Anthony
Gaye
Landon Jackson
Saivion Jones
Langston

This is the deepest, most talented DL LSU has had in years and I think Andre Carter is going to have them motivated and nasty.

Auburn, Florida, and Texas A&M all have major rebuilding project to accomplish this offseason.

i think he'll be better staying 1 more year then departing as a developed gem at that point looking to start somewhere.

Exactly this.

We don't need to give up on Finley. It was well known when they signed the Johnson was far more ready to play, where Finley had allot of work to do. Based on what I saw, he has great talent but has never faced anywhere near the competition he faced and was not ready. From everything I have heard, he has a great attitude and is a hard worker. While Johnson and Brennan are almost for sure the top options for next year, I look for major improvements from Finley and whether he reaches it or not has a much higher ceiling than Johnson.

Brennan isn’t tough. Plays timid.

79% of production from last year returning. In 2020 LSU was dead last in the SEC and 125th in CFB in returning production BEFORE opt outs.

That would be the logical approach.

Logical being the key word. Emotional decisions disguised as business decisions usually end up being the excuse.

All diversity is diversity of thought and therefore not meaningless.

Just curious but is everyone in the Brennan camp or Max J camp?
I'm in the LSU camp, I want whoever to play as well as possible.

Brennan's got a rifle. Finley's got a cannon. Johnson doesn't, but he's good enough.

If I was going to put money on it, I'd probably say Brennan is the guy you want to save your job this year, while Johnson is the guy you want to build your program around. Brennan can likely win you 10 games and may (but probably won't) come back next year.

Johnson, if properly groomed, could win you a title in a couple years, if you can put the talent around him. He seemed to have a lot of situational awareness as a freshman, which is a great place to start. If he can become even more aware with time and experience, then he could be the next Burrow here.

he threw a few dimes the last two weeks. Especially against a ranked Florida team in Gainesville

He did, but the OL that was like a sieve early in the season, didn't give up a sack against Florida. Florida was one of the leading teams in sacking the QB. The OL made a big improvement through the season. That is why 2021 looks promising no matter which QB earns the start.
