I have 20k on my 2019 Sierra with the 8-speed and no issues.

However, I’d 100% recommend getting the 10-speed over the 8.

2020 10 speed with the baby Dmax. Smooth as silk, love it, 30 mpg at 75 on interstate.

Lots of issues with the torque converter on that generation of Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade. The early ones 2015 for sure had a defective design in the cover of the torque converter that allowed water to get in it. It caused a shimmy or buffet similar to going down a rough gravel road. It would hit at speeds between about 40 mph and 60 mph, in other words, most of your driving around town. When they finally figured it out, it was about a $100 fix, but it took them a couple years to figure out what was causing it.

the issues have't gone away...

GM bulletin put out that a flush in transmission fluid is wise, to replace with Mobile one Blue label...it's not susceptible to moisture.

2nd gear is an issue, I think that's torque converter...

not sure why you find that amusing...

A Denali isn't a truck truck... and trucks in general are expensive

I had an issue with my 2014 silverado HC. Not sure which transmission, but it had to be replaced at about 110k.

Starting at around 40k miles it would hard shift down from 2nd to 1st. It would shake the truck and sometimes the tires would squeek. Mainly when I was coasting into a parking lot. Strange.

The new tranny i got is awesome. very smooth. Not sure if its the same one or not. Morris transmission replaced it. here in BR

To fix the 8 speed transmission shifting like trash, bring it to the dealership and have a transmission flush performed with the HP mobile transmission fluid and then have the shift adepts re-learned... it will shift harshly for about 20 miles but then it will be very very smooth... the 10speeds shift smooth because they come from the factory with the HP fluid in it

Any issue with the 10 speed transmission?

Nope

is it smooth power and shifting?

Huge difference between the 8spd and 10spd with the 5.3L. 10 spd hauls arse and shifting is very smooth.

I have a 2020 SLT Premium Plus with the 10 speed. Love it. My dad bought a Silverado at the same time. I told him to upgrade to get the 10 speed but he didn’t and now regret it.

Have a ‘20 Yukon Denali; the 10 speed with the 6.2L is silky smooth and has been a beast with towing so far.

Tundra not an option. New government will have gas prices at 4 or 5 bucks a gallon soon. Great truck but gas mileage is horrible.

You've just lucked out. Wait until you get the oil changed for the first time. Gonna fall apart.
