Any issue with the 10 speed transmission?

is it smooth power and shifting?

2nd gear is trash

That still leaves you seven gears.

And seven gears ain’t bad!

My wife’s Caddy has that transmission. I liken it to a golf cart. The power is seamless and you don’t even notice the gears. It is mostly instant torque at all speeds and engine RPMs.

One of our work trucks has the 8 speed transmission and I agree it sucks.

And I’ll add that I have a direct comparison in that she had a Denali with the 8 speed. The 8 speed was trash compared to the 10.

thank you

there is a massive amount of negative stuff on the 8 speed.

Dealer admits "not our best"...

for some people it doesn't bother them, it's the shifting

a luxury truck shouldn't shift harsh...it bothers me greatly

it's the torque converter I guess,...from what I have read it's mostly design issues...hopefully the 10 speed fixed many of these subtle shifting issues

Lots of issues with the torque converter on that generation of Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade. The early ones 2015 for sure had a defective design in the cover of the torque converter that allowed water to get in it. It caused a shimmy or buffet similar to going down a rough gravel road. It would hit at speeds between about 40 mph and 60 mph, in other words, most of your driving around town. When they finally figured it out, it was about a $100 fix, but it took them a couple years to figure out what was causing it.

Not sure if enough miles to know yet, but I have a 2020 with 8000 miles, 10 speed is very nice. That's all I got.

I have a 2021 Silverado for a company truck. No problem with transmission, but ECU module went out at 800 miles. Heard it might be a common issue going forward.

Apex that transmission is garbage, same issue in my mine.

I’m not touching the GM products again until I know they’ve worked out the issues.

ram has much better ride and much better fuel mileage. but, that toyota will have great trade value if you don't plan on keeping the truck for 15 years.

The 8 speed torque converter is the issue. Don't get the 8 speed.
