“One cannot be ‘fat but healthy’,” said study author Dr. Alejandro Lucia of the European University, Madrid, Spain. “This was the first nationwide analysis to show that being regularly active is not likely to eliminate the detrimental health effects of excess body fat. Our findings refute the notion that a physically active lifestyle can completely negate the deleterious effects of overweight and obesity.”

overweight and obese participants were at greater cardiovascular risk than their peers with normal weight, irrespective of activity levels.

compared to inactive normal weight individuals, active obese people were approximately twice as likely to have high cholesterol, four times more likely to have diabetes, and five times more likely to have high blood pressure

I’d like to know what these overweight people think “regularly active” is, versus what it actually is.

When science hurts their feelings they’ll just pretend like it doesn’t exist.

They needed a funded study. I'm sure they didn't use their own money.

The people that need to know this are the kind of people that think these doctors are "shills." They just want to take their selfies in workout clothes on a broken treadmill in peace

Well rolling over in bed would elevate their heart rate. So getting up a few times a day to get more snacks from the kitchen would be like running a marathon.
