I had a former manager at a restaurant who did this.Every night he would void an item off a couple tickets and pocket money. Eventually got caught and they traced about 30 k from his stealing.
amazing how much of this shite goes on.
Two years ago I had an engineering manager that was caught because he and his wife had an engineering business under her maiden name. And they would bid on company projects he was over.

In this case though, they were actually doing the job, so they couldn't hit him with theft, but ethics. Which is amazing since they both had full time jobs. But they always came in just under the other lowest bid .
In the span of two years they had $2 mil worth of projects.

I filled up a buggy with meat, booze, shrimp, condiments, etc. for Thanksgiving. Pretty expensive shite, for Kroger, but I still came in right at $300. This is like 300 buggies full of food we're talking about here- 10 per day for a month. Not exactly flying under the radar, this cat.

Bet you could easily pull $500 or so a week in a few smaller increments and not get caught

Not if you have good managers and the employee has to log in for every transaction

Kroger got exploited by a worker. Instead of firing him, they should give him a raise and hire him to find out how to improve security. There's a bunch of idiots there obviously. He's smarter than all of them.

Must have terrible management to not catch that quick. It is a fairly old trick ,but it should be apparent that it is happening after 1 shift. My money is that management was in on it.
