Officials with the Gwinnett County Police Department say 19-year-old Tre Brown ended up scamming over $980,000 from the grocery store where he worked on Steve Reynolds Boulevard.

In just two weeks, detectives believe Brown created over 40 returns for non-existent items ranging from $75 to over $87,000.

Officials say Brown would take the money from the returns and put them on credit cards, using the money to buy clothes, guns, shoes, and two vehicles - one of which he totaled.

Police began an investigation into Brown after Kroger employees noticed the transactions. After his arrest, police were able to return a large sum of money from the alleged theft.

Guess he didn’t figure anyone looking at the finances at a grocery store would notice a 80k return

Pretty surprising their system would even allow something like that

Special kind of stupid to put it back on credit cards.

You want to go under $100, probably under $75, and put it back on a gift card. Never do more than 1 per week and never spend the gift card yourself. Trade the gift cards for cash to your friends and relatives, but don't offer them for sale on fb marketplace or Craigslist.

You'll still get caught, but it'll take them months instead of days.

Computers do 99% of LP work these days.

He got greedy. He probably could have done a couple hundred a week for years and they likely wouldn't have noticed.

I mean it took a 87,000 return to catch their attention. They must not be looking that close.

need to also find a way to do some of these on your off days or well outside of your shift.
