This is such a strawman. What he did was wrong, wierd, ect. The question we all have is why the hell did this not come out in 2016? Why sit on this until the guy gets a high profile gig? Again, zero issue with her telling everyone this, more issue with why wait if you're ESPN?

quote:

In December 2017, ESPN obtained the messages after being alerted to their existence by a baseball source. ESPN reached out to the woman, interviewed her and was prepared to report about the allegations but did not do so after the woman concluded her career would be harmed if the story emerged. ESPN has periodically kept in contact with the woman -- who since has left journalism -- and, in recent days, she decided to speak up only on the condition of anonymity because she fears backlash in her home country.

"My number one motivation is I want to prevent this from happening to someone else," she told ESPN through an interpreter. "Obviously, he's in a much greater position of power. I want to prevent that from happening again. The other thing is, I never really got the notion that he was truly sorry."

"I know in the U.S., there is a women's empowerment movement. But in [my home country], it's still far behind," the woman said. "Women get dragged through the mud if your name is associated with any type of sexual scandal. Women are the ones who get fingers pointed at them. I don't want to go through the victimization process again. I don't want other people to blame me."

Still kind of a weak reason as the story broke shortly after he became a GM.

Apparently ESPN has been contacting this anon source for years now and she just gave the go ahead because she "moved back to her home country" which is kind of hilarious because details like that make it easier for people to figure out who it is.

Aka ESPN told her now it's actually a story so we are running with it regardless of what you want.

I mean I can see why he thought she was interested initially but...

Yep, I was reading the story and started to get a little angry when I saw just those things you bolded from the woman.

But even those replies would never remotely warrant weeks worth of dozens of messages she never responds to and then dick pics. That dude is 100% a creep.

I think the Mets could have kept him. They can say he clearly stopped sending messages after she told him to stop. They can say he will go to classes or undergo sensitivity and harassment training. He can also make a statement and apologize. They could have just demoted him to a scouting or assistant position or analytics position as punishment with a massive pay cut.

Nothing happened to Brett Favre when he sent pictures to the Florida State Cowgirl who was working for the Jets. Jenn something or other.

There’s a huge difference between Brett Favre and this guy
And Favre was fined for it

Doesn't matter what industry you're in, punishment is never given out equally, it changes based on your value to your company.

And yes, a GM is pretty darn valuable, but he's not NFL QB valuable.

Think it’s also because he was just hired that he was canned so quickly
If that was Brian Cashman or Theo Epstein, it’s just some long apology followed by classes

This is the age of me too and the Mets operate in perhaps the Mecca of progressive thought. It’s a different time now.

Everyone knows you’re likely dead in the water after a triple text. Very rarely do you come back from that, but it can happen. The 62 text...well, that’s just insanity.

Guy sounds like a delusional psychopath. 62 unanswered texts, and he still couldn’t catch a hint?

Like if I texted someone and they didn't get back to me, I wouldn't care too much. People see things and get busy, the conversation hits a natural ending point, sometimes people miss them. It happens

But if I text a 2nd time and don't get an answer, I will never text you again until you reach out to me first

Exactly. The third text is the Hail Mary but this guy went off the reservation with his 62 combo.
