For sure. That’s a new level of desperation

Honestly there should be a statute of limitations. Maybe talk to the GM about it, but this is a slippery slope to making it unsafe for men to even shoot their shot and express any type of interest, if even one text leads to consequences if a partner doesn’t want you

If only it had been the Mets new owner getting in trouble. That guy is going to buy up the freaking free agent market every year now, along with the Yankees and Dodgers.

I never wanted to see a salary cap in baseball, but I fear people like Cohen are going to force baseball to make that move at some point.

Anyway, the GM is a doofus. When will people learn that this kind of thing always comes out? Especially when you're rich.

Maybe handle like they do porn i.e. "I know porn when I see it". If this was a case where the text exchanges showed that the two clearly had mutual interest and then she freaked out when the dick pic was sent, I could see where there would be more leniency for the dude shooting his shot.

But in this case, I can't muster up much sympathy for a dude sending a dick pick towards the end of a string of 62 unanswered texts.

With regards to the 62 unanswered texts example, you know he is always going to shoot his shot with Baseball Free Agents as well.

Your team isn't going to miss out on the All-Star joining your squad because of Jared Porter's lack of staying in touch with the player or his agent.

On one hand, his family has professional roots in baseball - so nepotism gave him his foot in and up in Boston - so I always like to see those kind of folks (who didn't have to earn it early) fail.

On the other hand it is a weird precedent, I hope some flirtatious Facebook messages to random SEC co-eds from circa 2004 don't come back to haunt me one day.

Imagine if this involved the Astros. No chance it gets buried for years if it had been them instead of the Mets or especially the media darling CUBS.

No they don't. I don't know where that myth comes from. Baseball, like every other professional sport, wants as much competitive balance as possible. Yes, there is a desire for the big market teams to do well,in particular, but not at the expense of the rest of the league having no chance to compete for free agents. That kills fan support, league wide. That's why other sports have salary caps. And that's why I see a mega billionaire owner like Cohen being a threat to the last of the big four sports leagues that doesn't have a cap.

There are luxury tax thresholds, but that's no problem for billionaires.

The NBA has huge ratings problems for a number of reasons, but one of the big ones is that it's too top heavy. That's because it's become a thing for star players to team up and form "super" teams. I don't think the league office recognizes that as a good thing, but they don't know what to do about it, clearly.

Reached by ESPN on Monday evening, Porter acknowledged texting with the woman. He initially said he had not sent any pictures of himself. When told the exchanges show he had sent selfies and other pictures, he said that "the more explicit ones are not of me. Those are like, kinda like joke-stock images."

If "shooting your shot" includes sending a dick pic after 3 weeks of radio silence, then second guessing your approach might not be a bad idea...

Its definitely a timing issues and unaswered texts issue. If dude had sent the dick pic a text or teo after their previous engagement within an hour of the previous texts im not sure this would be a story. But sending more texts day after day for 3 weeks with no response, and then dropping the dick pic....thats so premeditated and creepy

It would probably still depend on the flow of the exchange.

Did he at least have something to show? If he’s blowing up chicks with a 5” wang they don’t care to see he’s an idiot. If he’s rocking a python at least he’s got something to be proud of. Still a completely lame thing either way.

If we reverse this though and a woman had sent some nudes after 62 unanswered texts she’s a crazy lunatic but her job isn’t on the line.
