I mean, I don't condone cancel culture by any means, but they can't run the story if ol' girl doesn't give them permission.

I'm assuming ESPN probably strong armed her into doing it once he got hired last month.

Your take is spot on.

They were clearly both flirting with each other over text and for some reason she decided she wasn't into it anymore and just stopped responding and he went psycho on her in response.

Her ignorance act is ridiculous. I guess we are to believe they don't have erections in her native homeland.

I mean she ghosted him for 3 weeks with no communication before he gave the ol Dick pic a try.

Reminds me of the Naked Man episode of How I Met Your Mother. Baw went all in hoping he’d be able to win it all.

Good point.

My initial reaction was what is the point of putting this out there now though? Her for green lighting the story and ESPN for running it.

What do we gain or accomplish as fans by running the story other than the Mets new GM is cringe with females?

I don't know how I feel about it, because this wasn't your usual cancel culture case where someone gets hired and then creeps on twitter scour their twitter from 10-15 years ago with the sole purpose to cancel them.

This, if we are to believe the reporting (which we don't necessarily have to), seems to be something ESPN wanted to run once it initially happened, but the reporter didn't want it released at the time.

I can buy them wanting to run it at the height of #metoo even when he was just a director.

I’m trying to answer my question from their perspective which I guess would sound something like, “There’s never a wrong time to discuss what is and isn’t acceptable male behavior towards females in a work environment.”

And to that I just say best of luck to them. You’d think it’s pretty clear that sending dick pics to someone you’ve met through your job would be dumb, but I’m gonna say the human race surprises us again in the future.

Meh... it's a story if a dude who is in position to make important decisions has a history of being kind of a psychopath.

In December 2017, ESPN obtained the messages after being alerted to their existence by a baseball source. ESPN reached out to the woman, interviewed her and was prepared to report about the allegations but did not do so after the woman concluded her career would be harmed if the story came out. ESPN has periodically kept in touch with the woman - who since has left journalism - and, in recent days, she decided to come forward only on the condition of anonymity because she fears backlash in her home country.

"My number one motivation is I want to prevent this from happening to someone else," she told ESPN through an interpreter. "Obviously he's in a much greater position of power. I want to prevent that from happening again. The other thing is I never really got the notion that he was truly sorry.

"I know in the U.S. there is a women's empowerment movement. But in [my home country], it's still far behind," the woman said. "Women get dragged through the mud if your name is associated with any type of sexual scandal. Women are the ones who get fingers pointed at them. I don't want to go through the victimization process again. I don't want other people to blame me."

Basically it sounds like she didn't want to deal with any backlash (b/c we all know there absolutely would be jackasses blaming her who would brigade her relentlessly) or the fact that it could harm her career (again it probably would have) but now that she no longer is a reporter decided "frick it this creeper arse douche is going down".

Honestly he deserves it. Anyone who thinks it's ok to send an unsolicited dick pick to a person you aren't in a legitimate relationship with and are absolutely sure it won't offend is a total frick head. She even ghosted him for 3 weeks and ignored 60 texts before he sent his dick pic. Like how much of a hint that she wasn't into him did he need?

Also quite clear that his situational awareness skills are lacking.

Psycho is a bit overboard. Pathetic yes. On a scale of pathetic to psycho, it falls closer to pathetic than say, jerking it on a work zoom meeting and then thinking it’s ok if you didn’t think they could see you (and it was odd that the same audience who will want the Mets to shitcan this guy, tried to normalize Toobin’s actions with women on that meeting.)

And I don’t think relationship cues are directly related to work performance.

I’ve been married for a long time and I think I’m pretty good at my job. It wouldn’t be in my best interest to have my work evaluated on how well I understood my wife or how many times I unknowingly pissed her off.

He sent 62 unanswered texts and then a dick pic.

He's a psycho.

So Bill Clinton shouldn't have been impeached?

Not even the same ball park. Not going to teach a history lesson. But Clinton wasn’t impeached for cheating on his wife.

Who tried to normalize Toobin? Everyone I read thought his gross arse should have been fired.

Right, but what event led to the reason he was being impeached.

C'mon dude, you don't even have to use critical thinking skills for this.

If you don't want grant that this dude is a psycho what about the fact that he used his position to be weird around a reporter?

This opinion was probably the most extreme defense. I’m sure if you searched social media for people defending Toobin, you won’t come up empty.

Maybe one day someone can explain the unsolicited dick pic fad to me. There’s gotta be some mental issues there.

What’s more the impressive feat to accomplish:

A) Ted Williams batting .400

B) Joe DiMaggio’s 56 game hit streak

C) Jared Porter sending 62 consecutive unanswered texts.

Perjury under oath when trying to lie about his behavior with women?

The Mets GM wasn’t dumb enough to lie about it even when not under oath.

Straight up creepy. And if the dick pic violated a law, he should have been investigated.
