theoretically, all they'd have to do is restrict him from being a football coach in a set number of parishes (of which EBR would be listed) and it's applicable.
So do you think they did the same with 15-20 other counties where major NCAA programs are based?

why would the NFL/NCAA distinction matter?
Because it's a different industry that does not have a direct financial impact on the other, which are the ONLY times I've ever seen non-competes enforced.

Goes back to when Payton told Brady he was making a huge mistake by taking the LSU job. He has and will always be a little bitch. I mean, 4 7-9 seasons and wins in the playoffs against stafford, foles, cam, foles & trubisky in the years since you won a super bowl. Can you say underachieving.
U think Payton gives a shite about LSU?

i have no idea and don't know if it's even a NC issue

1. I doubt Payton is holding this up, this is coming from lawyers and people who work contracts. Not the head coach.
2. The saints want compensation, that’s the way this works. This is twice now Ed has come for their staff. I know it’s not popular, but it’s not the saints job to just allow Ed to raid their coaches. They want to be compensated just like any business.
Brady was a freaking analyst and Payton told him coming LSU was a bad move and the guy is getting NFL hc interviews right now
Payton is an overrated plug

This looks to be another goober move. Failing to consult with the organization before approaching the person.
Besides he talked to the saints and got permission for the interview. Why not just not speak if you dont know what's goin on?

Well Kevin Steele is available again

Seems odd that he’d have a non compete only for LSU by listing EBR parish.
I know it has to have a time period and specific parishes. But it doesn’t seem likely that his contract would have an addendum that lists the parish/county of every FBS school in America to block him from any decent college gig.
Seems more likely that his contract says he has a buyout for a parallel job/non promotion and no buyout for a promotion. From there the Saints maintain that going from NFL position coach to college DC is not a promotion and thus triggers the buyout. LSU then takes the opposite view.
If that’s the case then I doubt we are talking about injunctions here.

And that's my point - I don't think it's a NC issue, as it would be ridiculous.

It would if it was a NC issue...
Let me ask, from a legal perspective, would simply having an NCAA "clause" in an NFL contract make it a "non compete", or simply a clause in the contract that states damages must be paid if the employee were to go to and NCAA school to coach?

He should- maybe he would draft better players to help him not choke in the playoffs

But he doesn’t have clearance for the hire. You want to talk half measures? CLM was incompetent but now we think Orgeron is savvy? LSU fanbase is anything but consistent

Can you change your title instead of using the conclusion you came to in your head?

lol...that wouldn't be on O.
If LSU had permission, made the offer, Saints blessed it, and then Woodward said..."Wait, WTF?", then that would be on O.
How the frick would Ed know that the Saints would stonewall before he even asked for permission to talk with him?
