They’re likely trying to get some buyout money recovered

I referred to who had the power to challenge a contract dispute; not who may be behind it

Forgive my ignorance...but why does LSU need the Saints to sign off?

I don’t read into that he’s less likely. I read into that SP isn’t going to just let him walk. They’re will be some compensation involved. I can’t imagine he’d force a coach to stay that wants to advance his career.

I dunno Payton wasn't thrilled about losing Brady to LSU (probably because it was a knowledge sharing session originally). It would seem like it would just be a silly move to prevent him from leaving though and create bad blood but Payton sure as hell can be petty.

He’s under contract.

This is the state of Louisiana. He can leave if he wants.

This isn’t a Sean Payton issue. It’s a contract issue. Payton doesn’t write up contracts. If Payton wanted to block this, he would be done so by not allowing us to speak with a Nielsen.

Don't expect the moron brigade to understand contracts.

And???

Look, I get it if it's another NFL team, but it's not.

I mean, what if the dude was offered the job as a CEO for a company - would the Saint's have to sign off on that, too?

If thats the case I dont see it being a hold-up. considering the contracts he's given out in the pass, woody probably wipes his arse with the money needed for the buyout. And Nielsen has been a huge asset so I don't blame the saints for looking for the compensation.

O would be well advised, when looking for coaches at the NFL level, to start looking at other teams rather than only the saints.

What is Sean going to do, not draft LSU players? How many times will that burn him before he learns his lesson.

Consult your local atty about how enforceable non-compete clauses are in La.

Assuming this is a non-compete.

Note: not an atty

Goes back to when Payton told Brady he was making a huge mistake by taking the LSU job. He has and will always be a little bitch. I mean, 4 7-9 seasons and wins in the playoffs against stafford, foles, cam, foles & trubisky in the years since you won a super bowl. Can you say underachieving.

Contracts are made to be broken. It is ALWAYS about money.

Explain how the SAINTS can stop him from going to LSU.

There was probably language written into his contract since it’s still technically the same industry. Maybe the Saints want some compensation after Brady jumped to a division rival after 18 months.

I'm not saying what Payton is doing is right, he is acting like a little bitch, but if he was cool with LSU then why is he being a prick about this?

I'm not saying the Saints can force him to stay. I'm saying that the Saints will rightfully want compensation for him breaking his contract, just like he'd want compensation if he got fired. For some reason people think the Saints should bend over backwards for LSU because they share a state.

I imagine this will get resolved.

I’d imagine it has to with O going after the guy that would’ve become the DC after Dennis Allen got another head job in a year.
