That's all semantics.
There's open conversations about what's happening. We would do the same thing. If we have no intention of keeping him, and say the Knicks offered him a 4/75 deal, then we'd let him go and we'd talk with the Knicks about how we can work out some S&T so we get the trade exception. If we wanted to keep him, we'd make a deal before other teams offer. You don't hear to much about RFA hitting the market where his former team isn't sure if they will resign him or not, and they are goign to wait and see what he gets and if they want to match. If he hits the market, it's b/c his former team is letting him go b/c they either don't want him or they couldn't come to terms with a reasonable contract.

You call it semantics
I call it assuming a hell of a lot of goodwill from other teams
Considering Knicks are going to most likely be a cap room team, they have almost 0 incentives to help a brother out

Most teams operate in goodwill, b/c if you don't, it's going to be hard for anyone to ever throw you a bone.
For instance, if we wanted to unload some salary to a below the cap team like NYK, they could be dicks and tell us go frick yourself we aren't helping you even if you give us a 2nd round pick, or they could be a nice human being and work something out that benefits them.
My point was more about the fact that if Lonzo is on this team going into the offseason, we will know before FA starts if we are resigning him or not. If he hits the market, it's b/c we aren't resigning him, and whoever he's interested in going to, we will know who it is and we will likely work a deal out with, either for a player or simply a trade exception. He isn't going to hit FA, get an offer, and then we decide if we want to match it or not. We either get a deal done before FA or we or letting him go no matter what.
Jerami Grant wasn't staying in Denver. IF he was, they would have had a deal done before FA, since they didn't, Denver knew they were letting him go. They got an almost $10M trade exception when Detroit signed him. They gave Detroit some 2nd rounder from 4 years ago that has never stepped foot in america and the Nuggets got back cash.

I'm curious, if you can't S&T an RFA, then what workarounds would you have to make that trade once he's accepted an offer from another team that we wouldn't match?

if you can't S&T an RFA,
That is not entirely accurate. You can't S&T an RFA that has SIGNED an offer sheet. Dell Demps reportedly wouldn't even take calls from Phoenix and Houston about Eric Gordon. He signed an offer sheet and Demps matched. By not taking calls Demps basically told other teams he wasn't interested in S&Ts for Gordon.
Contrast that with how the Pels acquired Tyreke. Sacramento said they were going to offer him a deal valued around his Qualifying Offer, way under market value for Tyreke. That odd offer was intentional, they didn't want to resign him and were practically begging for someone to do a S&T.
A middle ground between those 2 extremes would be Griff telling Rich Paul that he wants to do a S&T so find a team with a deal he likes but don't sign an offer sheet and Griff will try to work something out.

The Hornets aren't trading Bridges. We all make these trades but really need to be truly mindful of value.
Lonzo is one of the worst players in the NBA this year based on advanced stats. Teams know this, but you also have teams that have other pieces they don't need or want. That's why I argue the Magic are good fit. Only thing I'd wonder is if they trade for Lonzo would they be bumping up against the tax.
Aminu is not the same player he was when he was here. He's a better 3pt shooter. 2 of his 4 years in Portland he was shooting 36% from 3 and mostly from the corner. He's still an above average defender with length. Can play the 3 and 4 and his contract benefits us because it gets us further away from the tax line. I'm not advocating for him because of his on court value while it does help. I'm intrigued by his contract and the position he plays. He'll only be at $10m in 21-22 which is basically MLE level. That's not too shabby for a rotational piece in this league. He's also only 30 so not past his prime by any stretch. If he opts out (which he may or may not do) then you have more cap room to go out and get the piece or pieces you want. You also have a guy that, if he opts in, is a good contract to trade for a better piece. It's about flexibility.

Will likely get into a Bogdan situation with teams having so much space this summer. Kings could have done a S&T and received at least some minor pick back, but they tried to bargain too much and ATL just gambled on the Kings not matching a significant an offer sheet.

Lonzo and a 2nd for Aminu is the deal I do. Makes sense for both sides post Fultz injury

Lonzo should be traded for an underperforming young player that still has some potential at another position. Trading him for other teams trash isn't the way to go.

I just read that moving Bridges is one of their biggest goals right now. His minutes are down and he isn't a starter anymore. He is on the block..

I’ve been thinking for the past month or two, that Bridges would be a great target in a Lonzo trade.
They can pair the brothers and we can fill a need.
Would you do Lonzo and a future Pels First (2-3 years down the line) for Bridges and a Future 2nd or 2?
Would Charlotte do that?
Bridges might be more flash than substance but I don’t think there would be anything wrong with a Josh Hart type player, but with rocket boosters in his arse.

No way the Pels extend the qualifying offer with the way he is playing.

Sure would, if PJ Washington is included in the deal.

The thing about Lonzo is he looks like he has the tools; however, he can’t bring consistency. He also doesn’t seem to focus and let the game come to him on the offensive side of the floor.

He forces alot on the offensive end, he's still a very good defender and passer.
Definitely not someone you send out with a 1st rounder attached for *checks notes* Miles Bridges? He's not even the good Bridges

I mean, my thought behind it is he is a better player than lonzo, better fit and he has 1 more year left on his rookie deal. I don’t think they would take Lonzo straight up for Miles. They already have a decent amount of guards on the team.

He has parts of lots of tools
Probably the worst part is his timid mindset
