The cheapest school available. Try a community college.

Northwestern was founded as the state teacher's college and education is still the major emphasis.

Apparently the one I attended is dead last, because it took me about 5 readings of the OP to understand you were asking about a degree in elementary education.
I kept scratching my head trying to figure out where the typo must have been in your title or OP.

My daughter went to Longwood in Virginia. Very good teachers school if you have any desire to leave the state. Virginia has very good Universities beyond the 2 big ones.

Any major university in the state can provide an adequate curriculum for you (or your kid). My wife went to LSU for undergrad and UNO for her M.Ed. She’ll being leaving the classroom at the end of this year for an admin role.
She said, with any degree, you get what you put in. You can go the C for degree route and be a mediocre teacher or really dive into the pedagogy and classroom management stuff.
I know there are a lot of jokes in here but elementary education goes up to fifth grade and there is a decent amount of science behind it all. It’s more about the delivering of the material than the subject matter for these grades.
Her team has graduates from Southeastern, UNO, Southern Miss, LSU, and Holy Cross.
