I feel bad for your wife, first because she’s pregnant with 104 fever, and secondly because her husband is an idiot who needs the internet trash of tOT to know to take her to the ER asap.

I’d call a walk in clinic. I hope she feels better soon. Being pregnant and sick is really stressful.

Did the virtual visit. Definitely think Covid since she lost the smell. They don’t think an ER visit is necessary since she isn’t having any trouble breathing. Fever is apparently higher in pregnant woman since the body is focusing on protecting the baby. Gonna run to the urgent care to get the test out the way and hope she can get a decent night sleep.

Meanwhile I’m playing the single dad role with a 3 and 5 year old trying to keep them entertained.

We are in a similar situation. She tested positive 8 days ago and didn’t really have symptoms until 2 days ago. 30 weeks pregnant, fever hasnt gone above 100, very bad cough though. Our doctor told us to get to the hospital for chest X-Rays, they are concerned about pneumonia and potentially admitting her. In the hospital now waiting for results.

With that fever I would highly suggest the ER as precaution.

The drs weren’t concerned at all with the fever because it goes down with Tylenol. She’s barely even coughing and they said only go to the hospital if she has trouble breathing. I even interjected and was like is their a point where the fever gets too high we need to go in. 22 weeks and 104 fever doesn’t sit well with me but they said as long as it’s not a chest pneumonia type of thing that staying at home would be better .

Can’t get in to see her Dr until Thursday and I don’t think there’s anything that can be done at the ER but I’m starting to freak out : any (non OTish) advice?

Take her to the ER

Prayers for ya. With our second she had pnumonia at like 28 weeks and it was miserable for her. Just have her keep feeling that baby kick l.

It’s funny everytime we start talking about if the baby is ok , he decides to give her a nice kick to the crotch for reassurance

Well, it would be important to test for influenza versus Covid. Tamiflu needs to be started in a 48 hour time window and all ppl that live in the house would be offered prophylactic treatment. Need to make sure she’s not tachycardic as that as a response along with fever. Tachycardic mom=tachycardic fetus. Fluids could be necessary with a temp that high. Pretty lazy of your ob not to evaluate her in triage. Uti, pyelo, blood clots, intrauterine infection other sources of fever in pregnancy. Is it likely Covid? Yes. With persistent undulating fevers, would recommend getting evaluated.

At urgent care now. Once again no one is concerned with the fever. Covid results should be back in about ten minutes.

She said it’s not a UTI

Just got the results. Positive for Covid.

Alright, I just got over Covid so I got this. The rapid test has many false negatives so get her a standard test and she will be positive. Believe me, she has Corona so get her vitamins D, C and Zinc. Heavy doses for the first week. I also got a Z Pak. We also have a pulse ox to measure blood oxygen level. If she gets to 89% get her to the Hospital. Good luck but I guess in 2 weeks she’ll be much better.

There keeping her here on an iv and doing some blood work for about 90 more minutes. We have a pulse ox and it’s been close to 100 all day so not concerned there but heart rate is high so there trying to get that down .

Ugh . This sucks.

At Urgent Care? Have you contacted her OBGYN to get his opinion on this?

That would have been my first call

I would take her to the ER. Being that she is pregnant-I surely would take her or call her OB. If they don't respond go to ER.
