As KARK-TV reported, Ashley Ann Jones, a business owner, spent $28,000 at two Arkansas Kroger grocery stores earlier this week in an effort to give back to her community after seeing excessive lines at the food banks on the news amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has affected American families financially, as many lost their jobs and income.

"I was like, I'm going to buy groceries," Jones told the news station.

A manager at one of the Kroger locations she visited, Joseph Mayo, said that Jones's efforts were "a great Christmas gift" to those she helped at the grocery store, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Shoppers would "come up and we'd say, 'Your groceries are paid for,' and they'd be like 'Are you serious? Really?'" Mayo told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

According to the report, the 35-year-old, who also owns a social media strategy firm, regularly gives back money to the community and was able to distribute $35,000 this year to her followers to help them pay their bills.

I love stories like that. My only comment would be that I hope the people she paid for their groceries really truly needed help paying for their groceries.

I bought my kids a small milk shake the other day and I didn’t make the news for it. It was a pretty big deal, they wanted medium.

I did the same on Christmas Eve, but a considerably lesser amount. By about $28K. The middle-aged couple in front of me had their check rejected and it was clear they had groceries for a family.

I would have no problem if Drew Brees put her name on his helmet. Ashley Ann Jones is an American hero!

For the families who don’t qualify for food stamps bc that’s the ones who really need help with groceries. It’s always been so unfair that many people get $800/mth in food while others have to put stuff back on the shelves, pinch pennies, and go without a lot things just to buy the basic staples.
