Raymond has been a good coach for LSU, but unfortunately, the worst part of our defense was our cornerbacks (and safeties, but that coach won't be back). I know the scheme was to blame, but you think it would have gotten better toward the end of the year having a veteran coach like Raymond's input, but we still had huge busted coverages all the way until the end.

And the players hated Curley Hallman.

The fans weren't too wild about him, either.

It was "the players" in 1986 that cost us getting Steve Spurrier from Duke. We settled for Mike Archer because "the players" wanted him. He won an SEC title with Arnsparger's players, and then proceeded to run the program in the ground.

If he’s good enough extend him. If not then we get the next hot shot 2 yrs from now

Think O is on board with this, considering we would most likely also be looking for the next hot shot head coach then as well?

Don’t listen to players. They are emotional and sometimes have agendas. Go get the best talent out there.

This is a perfect example of why current and former players should have ZERO say in coaching hires. Of course they will want their coach to get a promotion.

Hell, if Burrow had his choice, Orgeron would have a lifetime contract.
It was players pushing it why LSU hired Mike archer instead of Steve Spurrier

Wut?

Stingley was Stingley and Ricks was the best freshman cornerback in the country and one of The best cornerbacks in the country regardless of class. Flott struggled which was disappointing but you saw very promising things from Ward and Mcglothern. 90% of the DB struggles were from safeties blowing assignments or just flat out not being good enough to help over the top.

This defense had a shite ton of bad about it but the corners weren’t one of them

Imagine saying that the corners were the problem this year lmfao. Like I said this type of ignorance is what gets a Bo Pelini hire massive support.

Based on I know what I know and what I have witnessed with my own eyes. I was in coaching for 16 years on multiple levels. I will leave it at that. If he was hired as DC, it would be a disaster. The guy can recruit, he can teach technique, but he is not a DC.

He didn't coach most of those guys. It's not like it's just a bunch of DBs.

What have you seen on film to tell you he’s not DC material. Be specific.

I’m on record as saying that I don’t want to take the chance on Raymond but I’m also going on record as saying you don’t have a fricking clue how good or bad he would be as a DC because you and no one else on this board has any clue as to how he can scheme. We’ve never seen it so how could you know?

So based on your own bias. Saying you coached is nothing but fake cover. You know you can’t dox yourself if you actually are a coach so it’s a built in excuse. You don’t have any real reasons except “I know what I know” which must not be much.

He’s full of shite. There’s no objective support for his smears so he uses a self serving statement he knows will give him cover.

Corey Raymond should be closer to being fired than being promoted to DC
