Corey Raymond should be closer to being fired

Why? I don’t want him as DC but he’s the only coach on this defense that’s proven themselves worth a frick. Why would you want him fired?

If The Boat is saying Raymond should be fired that’s a dead giveaway he should get the DC job. Case closed.

No longer a coach, was, for many years. True to the others posters point, I have not seen him scheme. However, I have been around him enough in tons of settings, to be able to form my own opinion. As someone who was in the profession for years, I think that opinion in based on solid footing. I also do think he is safe and should not and will not get fired

How do you even have an opinion? I know this, you can’t award coordinator positions to people just because they are popular. Chief, Steele and Aranda were all good coordinators because they were cerebral.

I’m not gonna pull the big league job you’re trying to pull but I’m told the exact opposite and his results speak for themselves. He should’ve been handed the keys this year and when that didn’t happen it cause a domino effect of internal problems that plagued us all season long.

Hell no.

You don't take a career CB coach and make him a DC.

He’s been under those guys you just named for a decade and a half plus all the other personal experience he’s had. How do you guys defend logic that says “you can’t ever be hired for a position you’ve never had?” That isn’t logic it’s cowardice and ignorant. Would you have hired Joe Brady if Ensminger retired after last season? If the answer is yes there is no argument.

Not a great idea.. once he fails, we’ll have to fire him.

Why hasn’t he been hired away as a DC?

I think he’s been an elite position coach under plenty of elite coordinators throughout the years to be able to field his own defense.

I don’t think this time and this place at LSU is the right time to test that theory but I do think he is capable of running a defense. It’s just at what level can he be successful. If I was a G5 school I would be beating down his door for a open DC job. The DC job at LSU is just too high stakes right now.

If he wanted to be a defensive coordinator, he should have left and taken a job like that at a smaller school. Orgeron was a total flop at Ole Miss, because he did not known what he was doing and still doesn't. Orgeron can only last at LSU with outstanding coordinators, and I just do not know if Raymond is the right guy in these circumstances.

Coach Raymond don’t even want to be DC. He’s fine retiring as a position coach so I’ve heard.

Do you pay attention during the off-season? Teams have tried to take him away for the past few years.

Again that’s terrible logic. You don’t giveaway talent because it’s almost guaranteed you won’t get it back.

This is a perfect example of why current and former players should have ZERO say in coaching hires.

This is O’s last stand, he has to get it right with all the talent coming back. I love Raymond, but is he ready?
