Is it possible for our government to create an unhackable network?

It seems our government is constantly bombarded with cyber attacks by Chinese and Russian hackers.

Is it possible to create some kind of closed network that can’t be hacked into?

Sure, if you don't allow anyone to access anything outside of the network and also don't ever let any employees do anything on it because they might be compromised as well.

Not until a better solution is found for authentication cookies.

Right now hackers are "Session Hijacking" with auth key cookies to bypass multi factor authentication.

1. Build network
2. Destroy every device on network
2A. Network now unhackable.

Possible? Yes. Probable? No.

No. Its essentially the same as trying to make an item unable to be stolen. You can only make it more difficult, more of a pain in the arse to get. But ultimately, so long as someone, anyone at all, has access to it, there is an avenue for compromise.

Is it really hacking if all the network equipment was manufactured in China?

From the public internet? Yes, but it wouldn't have access to anything internet.

A completely unhackable network? No, impossible. There's always an attack vector to exploit. It's a never ending cat-and-mouse game for IT.

China doing it, Probably stole it though

Quantum internet closer as physicists stretch spooky link between atoms (sciencemag.org)

quote:

Entanglement would be key to a fully quantum internet that would let quantum computers of the future communicate with one another and be immune to hacking. If hackers messed with communication, they would spoil the entanglement, revealing their presence. Various companies already sell systems that send messages in quantum states of light that are largely unhackable. But to use such links, the information must still be decoded at each network node, which is potentially vulnerable. In a quantum internet, any node could be entangled with any other, so messages between them couldn’t be decoded at intermediate nodes.

My question is when are we going to start retaliating with real world strikes? A thousand different actions we could take, but it seems that we mostly pussyfoot around when it comes to cyber attacks.

Yeah, that would be really dumb. Plus, you are crazy if you don't think the US does the same and more. Should they attack us for doing the same thing? Should Iran attack the US and Israel for sabotaging their centrifuges?
