If you haven’t noticed, players are leaving left and right. Not players who want playing time mind you, but every down starters. Whatever leadership credibility he had is gone.

That might be the dumbest thing I've ever read on this board. Do you actually think that those talents didn't need any coaching?

Your comment just proves the OP's point.

No university's name is magic.

How many years has Notre Dame been between Natty's? What about USC? Texas? Nebraska? Oklahoma? Michigan?

All of those were at one time called "dynasties".

Modern football is dominated by southern schools with the exception of Ohio State

Oklahoma and ND might make the playoffs somewhat frequently but they're not likely a threat to win the whole thing

LSU in their best years has a higher ceiling than every northern team not named ohio state

This is true it does require a good coaching hire

There are structural advantages at LSU that don’t exist at half of those. Notre Dame and Michigan have tougher academic standards and are located in areas with less talent, that’s even worse for Nebraska.

Texas and USC have no excuse and have simply not made good hires post Brown and Carroll.

Oklahoma hasn’t won the NC since 2000 but have been a consistent contender ever since playing in 3 other BCS CG and 4 playoff appearances under 2 coaches

ETA even with some disadvantages Notre Dame proves its still about the coach. Holtz won a title and contended for a couple of others after him they had Bob Davie Ty Willingham and Jabba the Hut all terrible Kelly has been to a BCSCG, and 1 working on a second playoff

This is pretty stupid. You don’t win 15 games beating 7 ranked teams on just talent. Alabama and Clemson at a minimum had comparable talent.

Next of the 5 first round picks only Chassion was projected as a first rounder before last season and picked on upside talent. Im no O apologist and was very critical of the hire but in your zeal to discredit him you are basically saying even Brady and Aranda had no impact on development

I do not understand why they can't hold their water until after signing day. Then they can run their mouths all they want, but they are only hurting the program they say they love.

On the field can be fixed. I’m terrified of what’s been going on off the field. When USA Today and other media outlets are putting my school and Title IX out there for the whole world to see is not good. Not good at all. Wouldn’t surprise me when the season is over we get absolutely hammered by the NCAA.

Yeah, 'cause us followers have an acute sense of who will lead us into a prolonged period of mediocrity and irrelevance.

He’ll get another one for sure and it depends on how well they do.

If they move on to NFL and HC jobs then he’ll get to hire another set.

Also no you can’t. No fricking chance in hell you could do O’s job.

Ok? You fire him then.

This same knee jerk shite over the NCAA is why y’all were pissed at Alleva for suspending wade.

What exactly did Orgeron do that you disagreed with over the title 9 stuff?

You can’t hang him if he’s not guilty.

Dude pelini is horrible

He runs the same shitty plays

He makes zero adjustments

yep, i was shocked as hell and so should everyone, that our best player had to go to the coaches in second half of alabama and beg to be allowed to cover their best receiver

let that sink in, a player on the field had to beg to be allowed to make changes to our defense so they could finally slow alabama down some. pelini should have had that matchup scripted to be that way for the whole game yet a player had to go say "hey coach, their guy is running 20 yards wide open because nobody can keep up with him so can i as our fastest and best cover guy, can i please stop covering tight ends and go cover him?"

a player had to tell the DC what was going on out on the field AND also how to fix it

Well said Cronkytonk. You've hit the nail on the head. Losing the greatest wealth of talent ever collected by football coaches as well as gr eat coordinators, then spring practice cancellations due to the virus has not allowed time for new coordinators to install their d efenses, coach technique, or get freshman and sophomores to understand what is physically required in running patterns, line play, and so on in the new systems is a formidable obstacle. Could Saban have done better? Sure, he could have kept Florida off of his schedule and made sure that the conference office understood that the conference really needed his team in the playoffs. More importantly, could Bebe have done better? The only way this season was salvageable for LSU was to covid-opt out at the beginning of the year. Freshman and sophomores manning unfamiliar and misunderstood offenses and defenses while caught up in political and social drama was a no-starter.

the results this year are largely expected.

No. For frick sake, no. When we thought we were playing 12 games most people said 8-4 is the floor, 10-2 is the ceiling. With everything we lost, a rebuilding year was most definitely expected to the tune of a FEW losses. The worst season this century for LSU football was not expected by anyone with any pride in this program, and you’re taking a giant shite on it if you didn’t expect any better.

Horrible take.
