I was in Yongsan in Korea. Loved it and wasn't happy when my request to extend my tour was denied. I would have stayed the rest of my enlistment there.

NAS North Island, San Diego in the early 90s. It was a great time in my life.

Worms Germany in 1969. It was heaven compared to Viet Nan. No trash in the city. Beautiful gardens and castles. Did I mention the German beer.

Camp Pendleton and MARFORRES New Orleans are tied for me. Both were great for different reasons.

Camp Page, Korea (beautiful downtown Chunchon)...the old 1/42 Field Artillery (Honest John), biggest mistake I ever made was NOT extending there!!!!!!
the second would have to be Khobar Towers during the summer of 1991, worked my arse off for Gus Pagonis and was some of the most rewarding stuff I ever did...

Only place I was ever stationed was Norfolk and that area is ghetto as frick.
Yeah, I never made it out of Hampton Roads either. Been to a lot of cool spots from cruising on carriers but homeport was nothing special.

I did over 20 years as a M1A2 Abrams tanker. I can honestly say that my favorite memories were the yeast I spent deployed.
Shoot, Move and Communicate. Putting steel on steel with a 120mm smoothbore cannon in a 72 ton beast.

Spent a few weeks at Ft. Sherman, Panama Canal Zone for Jungle Training. Very proud of my "Jungle Expert" patch.
Things that remind me of my time there are black palm, triple canopy jungle, enjoying c-rations in the jungle, going to places that were "off limits", repelling from a 60ft wall, shooting blanks in our M-16's, making an amphibious landing and nearly trampling a second looey to death, etc. All good memories!
Basic at Ft. Polk during June and July, then last duty station at Ft. Campbell, Ky. with the 101st Airborne.
My favorite post was Ft. Belvoir, VA. Just south of D.C and first time I saw a lot of snow.

I spent a year in Iceland(Navy). The Quiet One must have caught a bad year, the winter was as he described-awful.But I had about 5 months of nice weather, sunny but highs in low 80’s.My Chief made me a deal-I drove the dumpster truck every other weekend and every other weekend I had 4 days off. I saw just about the whole country.I met this girl, cute as hell-natural blonde and spoke perfect English. There were dances different places around the country every Saturday night with bands from England.
My best time was in Rota Spain,I spent 22 months on Shore Patrol(Navy version of MPs)
There were a multitude of bars that catered to the sailors, there were all these bar girls that would get the sailors to buy them watered down drinks for conversation. There were girls from every country you can imagine, even U.S.Many of them were college age girls that wanted to travel Europe. There was a disco in town that they would flock to at 11pm,closed at 2:00.Friday and Sat.night there was a disco at a hotel that stayed open to 4:00 am.
Being on SP,we would pass through the bars and I would hustle women while I worked
so I didn’t waste lot of time and money when I was off.I worked 4 on and 4 off.
I had a nice little FIAT and I traveled around the country a lot seeing the sights but I partied maybe too much.
Navy offered me 3 more years there if I would re-up.It was hard to turn down but I decided I better get out and go to college before I became worthless.

The last one and the next one.
My son is at Campbell and will be for pretty much his entire career, even if he puts another 18 years in. I can't imagine being in the military and having just one post to ever be "home".

I’m remember being pissed about my first duty station being in San Diego instead of K-Bay like my original orders stated. Man I had no clue I had hit the jackpot, hell I didn’t appreciate being in Pensacola and Jacksonville for mos schools like I should have.

If you're a drinkin' man, I probably served you in one of the bars in the Sheridan Club. I also bartended at the country bar near the sport center. That was my first job after moving to Germany in Nov. of '88; wild times.
Tom Wopat did a country concert there, if you remember that. He was pretty laid back, and not a bad country performer. I also ran into my platoon Sgt. from AIT at Ft. Sam in '80. Had a lot of cool times with the guys in Augsburg. I still live about 20 miles south of there.

Gaeta, Italy (92-94). Was on the 6th fleet flagship, so we would go out for a month, come back for a couple months then out again. We did public relations with every country in the area. Everywhere from Russia, Romania, to Portugal and all over Europe.

Fort Eustis, VA is a tiny little base in Virginia. It's probably the best kept secret in the Army. It's extremely close to Williamsburg and Yorktown. 30 min form Virginia Beach. Very close to DC. I loved the area.

Ft. Riley, Ks.
I'd move there permanently if it weren't for anchor babies here in La.
