I've got plenty of Drake items (not much banded stuff) that does the job just fine for the hunting typically do. That said, Sitka is definitely head and shoulders above the other two.

I'll tell you what does NOT keep you dry - my 12+ year old Mossy Oak "rain" jacket from their store in West Point (likely out of the bargain bin). Got a serious case of the wet arse this past weekend.

I had the same experience with a top of the line Drake 3 in 1 coat about ten years ago.

I've got a couple pieces of Sitka that were bought at very steep discounts, one of them is the Delta Wading Jacket aka rain coat.

I’m “running” (jk for OP) a Sitka delta wading jacket and it’s worth the cost to stay dry. Frick their $1200 waders.

Filson is entering the game with always solid stuff.

Banded and drake are very similar. With that said I've known one of the larger Banded part owners most of my life so I'm firmly in the drake crowd.

The shouldn't call any of their jackets water proof - more like water resistant if its raining hard

I wish they wouldn't have bought Mcalister because they shrunk the line.

Imo Banded is way better and the Banded Avery stuff is nice

too bad Duxbak went out of business again

Duck Camp makes some good stuff but their camo is disgusting

Outside of clothing, Banded has been suspect for me in terms of quality. Sub par to drake IMO. I did purchase a Sitka Timber jacket when it was first launched solely based off of it having the darkest pattern at that time. I like MPW brand for clothing.

That was really good stuff, I had one of those that a guides dog tore up. Wish I still had it.

It was replaced with the aforementioned Drake 3-1 which was mostly junk.

I wish Duck Camp/Sitka/First Lite and others would make some stuff without a hood...or at least a detachable.

I went through my stuff last weekend and found 3 hoods. No idea if I will be able to match them to anything

Bought one of their down (poly) jackets last year on sale for ~$40 and really like it. Very warm.

I think I found why you got wet with the Drake.

The vest I bought for this season is my favorite of all time. Two sets of hand warmer pockets(high and low) as well as the chest ones for a phone or gloves. I try to find ways to wear it no matter the weather.

Have lots of drake stuff and it's been warm but has let me down many times in the rain. Got a Sitka Hudson jacket for this season and so far it's keeping me warm with less bulk but yet to test in rain so we shall see (tomorrow actually).

I will tell you for sure, if that mofo lets me down and is no better than the Drake, banded, etc. etc. stuff that's cheaper, I will blast the frick out of them and call out all that have said it's worth the extra money. But by all accounts, it really is that much better, I just haven't had it proven to me first hand just yet.

I would prep thy anus because I am not sure there is an article of clothing that can keep you totally dry in a rain storm other than wearing a body condom.
