Is drake still a good waterfowl brand or have other companies passed them up like Sitka or Banded Gear?

sitka is by far the best in the game but your wallet is gonna feel it, banded is good but some people ik have had problems with them, drake is also good. me and everyone i know runs sitka, banded, and drake. i mainly run drake and i havent bought anything else in years. it all depends on how big your wallet is man. cant go wrong with any of the three.

I still mostly wear and purchase Drake.
It has earned my trust as it has always lasted me and functioned as advertised.

Surely I won't say it is "the best" as that is subjective. I would just say it is what I can afford, and I feel like the price matches the quality and product you get in exchange. Is Sitka better? Probably so, I just can't afford it
I think this also comes down to what specific piece of gear(s) you are looking to buy.

FYI, lots of this stuff has been on sale at Sierra Trading Post. I got a few things and love them. I am too cheap for Sitka.

If I was hunting spots that got insane cold like up in MO or doing Canada trips every year, I would probably convert to Sitka and have a firesale on all my Drake and Academy Gamewinner stuff that is all in Max4. However I hunt in SE TX where our Winter is like 1 week in January and the odd trip back home to NE LA where it does get nippy from time to time but not Sitka $$$$ nippy.

Have to admit, I own both Sitka and drake and hunt in SELA and Delaware/Maryland. Sitka definitely does the best job of keeping you dry and warm - it is quality gear and you can beat the shite out of it.

However! I do agree that for those who hunt mostly in sela or places like it where the weather stays relatively warm, it's a lot of money and you're probably better off saving your dollars.

One thing I really don't like about Sitka - the pattern. I just think realtree hides better where I hunt. And if you do go Sitka, the optifade marsh pattern is too yellow for sela. Better off with the darker timber pattern.

For the record I'd rate Banded and Drake as on the same level with Banded geared more towards the flatbill crowd. Drake has some awesome designs and ideas but are absolutely horrible when it comes time to turn those ideas into actual products. Sitka is head and shoulders above either. I'll be the first to admit that Sitka isn't a necessity by any means especially for our weather in the south. I also hate their patterns. But it keeps me warm and dry and not looking like the michelin man while doing it. They're one of the only hunting clothes companies that I've had that actually keeps you dry
