Is this worth the watch? I’m thinking of paying for one month of Starz to watch this and American Gods. I recall the hype for this one back when that fantastic trailer was released, but I never saw any paradise for it afterward. Was it a great trailer terrible movie, great movie that was forgotten or somewhere in between?

It was aight. I Liked American Gods more

Edit: the scenes during the credits were probably the best part of Brightburn

Brightburn was OK, but I was disappointed in the basic premise of why things went south. I was expecting something completely different, and I didn't really like the story they told.

I just discovered a movie that came out this year called Mortal, that appears to tell a similar "alternative origin" type of story. I haven't watched yet but I'm hoping I like the story better.

It was decent entertainment, but forgettable. I actually bought the movie on YT, instead of renting it, thinking it'd be something I'd revisit on idle days, but forgot I even owned it until you mentioned the name again. Still, it's worth a watch if you get do Starz, otherwise, rent it if you have some spare change & a couple hours of free time.

The concept of a Superheroes going bad, especially the ones that are virtually unstoppable, has always intrigued me (Watchmen, Chronicle, Brightburn, etc, even Hancock.) But I think The Boyz has most satisfyingly realized my expectations for "What if Superman turned evil".

Brightburn is one I always wanted to watch, but never actually pulled the trigger on it for one reason or another. And I never heard anything about it, so I guess I assumed it was [retty meh.

If you've never seen Black Sails, you should also watch that during your month. It's fantastic.

Brightburn was super disappointing in its execution. I wanted to like it more than anyone but it was just....average. Its worth the watch just for a couple scenes. Once its ramped up, the movie is at its best. The lead up is underwhelming.

Black Sails,

Yeah I heard this was good. I'll probably do a month just for this and AmGods (love the book and been wanting to watch this). I'll give BB a shot when I do, but the responses in this thread are about what I expected.

American Gods is fun I only watched the first season though.

Brightburn was a decent concept with bad execution from everything I've heard.

What I would really like, a Red Son type story. Not an evil Superman but misguided. Same with Kingdom Come.

Evil Superman is usually pretty boring and the fun from the stories always comes from the interactions. Justice Lords did it well. Injustice did it so tongue in cheek it actually worked.

Another good watch on Starz is Dublin Murders. It's just eight episodes.

Brightburn was decent. Wouldn’t mind a sequel with the way it ended. The credits were the best part Drop what you’re doing and start Black Sails immediately. Just get through the first two episodes and you’re on your way to watching one of the best series of all time. It legit took me three or four tries to get through those first two episodes
