Of course you do. Women want to be treated the same as men so let's go ahead and do that.

every member of their football team could have done that. There was no reason to add her to the team. I thought she was gonna have a legit leg

Not necessarily true. Kicking isn't something very easy to do. Most folks who don't practice kicking many times can't kick worth a shite.

Hell in high school football, it seems like very few actually have kickers worth a shite. That's why you see majority of teams will always go for it on 4th down, and some teams will always go for the 2-pt conversion.

Being an athlete doesn't automatically mean you can kick a football.

But alas, this was 100% a publicity stunt. Who tf cares tho? This is Vandy we're talking about. They aren't competing for championships. The only thing they compete for is to become bowl eligible by maybe winning 6 games in any given year.

This is Vanderbilt football. They haven't been good since the Great Depression. I wouldn't read so much in to it.

Didn't Vany have an opportunity for her to kick a 40 yarder...?

Why didn't they let her try...?

What HS football are you watching? I know of very few high school programs that can’t run out a kicker for extra points much less a majority.

As far as the publicity stunt. It’s embarrassing they didn’t have an open tryout on campus. I guarantee their is a student that kicked in HS that could get it close for the end zone and make an extra point. Although not sure Vandy needs to worry about that.

Didn't Tampa Bay kick a FG to avoid a shut out against the Saints..?

Hell, they should've let her try..

I’ll say this, I’m not going to lose sleep Over her suiting up. But Vandys football program is in shambles right now and their athletic department is blowing up on social media acting like they accomplished something by her playing to deflect from the embarrassment of a team and coach they are fielding.

It was nothing but...

Does Vandy not have a men's soccer team...?

I bet the average dude on their team could've done that BS...

You misunderstood me. I was saying a good amount of high schools don't have a quality kicker enough that they would trust for routine field goals. Extra points are a different matter. But still, while in college or the pros xp's are a given to go in like 90% of the times. I feel like in most high schools xp's may go in roughly 60-65% of the time.

But in any case, you're absolutely right. Out of Vandys entire school, they absolutely could have found 1 guy who kicked in high school and gave it up because he didn't care about football enough to seriously pursue it further.

She probably couldn't make it. That's why. I don't disagree with that. I was stating that unless you have previously kicked before and really practiced at it, your average guy, athlete or not isn't coming close to nailing a 40 yard field goal.

I’m fine with being critical of Vandy about this. It’s a clear publicity stunt to distract from how awful there are.

That being said, ppl shouldn’t blame the girl. She took an opportunity she was offered and did what they asked her to do.

Progress has no place in college sports

I do find it funny that it’s Missouri of all schools that beats a team 41-0 and the only highlight they show is the opposition kicking off.

They had some ranked seasons under Franklin. They sure as hell wouldn’t have done this during one of those years. They knew they couldn’t play worse then they currently are.

To be fair, kicking a football is way different from a soccer ball. Yea she’s got the leg, but there’s a lot of technique involved. Not a good showing for the first female to play in a major conference football game though

Well celebrating a poor performance surely doesn't. If that was a male kicker barely getting it over the FG post from the 2 yard line and not able to do a real kick off everyone would be calling for him to be replaced. We are suppose to celebrate poor performance bc it's done by a girl? She wouldn't make the team legitimately. There have been many girl players before her who couldn't make the cut, why celebrate her poor performance separately from all the other girls who couldn't also make the cut.

She selfishly stole this prestige from a future female who actually could.
