Yeah Hispanics hate the masks. Places like the valley and El Paso
the valley, yes. i agree.
not true in El Paso. Those people locked down hard and stuck to masks hard. their problems are people coming from Juarez, and that they didn't ease up lockdowns till much later than the rest of the state and they're getting the second wave we all had in the summer.
ETA: this is just my experience. i've been to the valley and EP 2x each this year. valley acknowledges it's a big deal but people were pretty eased up on masks both trips. they'd wear them around crowds but take them off when we were in offices. i didn't see a single person's unmasked face in El Paso either trip

I am just going off what I’ve seen in Houston and Austin. I have several friends from the valley and they’ve said repeatedly that people weren’t taking it all that serious there. Maybe it’s different in El Paso I dunno.
Even if they’re taking it serious those places were always going to struggle for the reasons I listed and folks coming over the border like you said

There has never, since this ridiculous shite has been allowed to even start, been an adequate answer to this question.
Emotional decision after emotional decision and the word “science” being bastardized beyond recognition

This can't be stated enough. We are past the time for active civil disobedience and lawsuits.
I’m pretty openly not going to adhere to any further COVID restrictions, and if lawmakers understand they are the servants of the people they will back down from any thoughts of further lockdowns or risk us having to fight for our liberties.

not to poli-board it, but there are a lot of conservative hispanics in the valley. a lot vote democrat, because that's the option, but most of my customers were pretty lax and mostly unbothered, even if they knew deaths, personally. Almost all of them are over it.
most of my customers in El Paso is operating out of fear and in favor of lockdowns.
also there is something to the fact that darker skinned people are going to have less vitamin D, which is pretty valuable in stopping virus replication from my understanding.

I feel a lot more people are talking about this after the election than before.
Is it because of the promising vaccine news?

Power and money, what it is always about.

It’s because the pro-lockdowns candidate won.

Absolutely. My friends from the valley (all Hispanic obviously) are some of the most conservative people I know, granted these are all people that went to A&M but still.

Trump had the end game and now that they see Trump may be out of the way they are really tripling down against the people. What all the Democrat Mayors and Democrat governors are doing is hypocritical to the news of the vaccine.
Trumps plan has always been to keep the economy open, get the vaccine out to the most vulnerable. This plan alone will reduce the virus impact until herd immunity naturally occurs or the vaccine reaches mass population.
As soon as the media declared Biden the winner all the Democrat powers went back to full on population restrictions. They create this panic every-time there is a holiday that has people gather and celebrate. EVERYTIME, and the data does not support the need for the restrictions. POSITIVE TEST are good if the healthcare system is not over loaded but they do not promote that FACT.

They’ll get voted out if people are really upset with them. Elections are for people to share their voices.

Hence the 24/7 fear mongering and public shaming from the media and government.

If they don't ramp up the fear porn, big pharm can't sell all of their "life saving" vaccine. Big pharm has always been the biggest backing of all this. Government control has been a side benefit for those with dictatorship-lust.
Remember all the money thrown at big pharm for a Zika vaccine and all the fear mongering about all the deformed babies? Fear went away, no vaccine needed. Bird flu and several countries in fear, travel restrictions, masked up, etc. Sars 1 had multiple countries in fear, vaccine work ensued (which is why the current vaccines had such a big head start), ran it's course before vaccines were ready so they were shelved.
This go round, big pharma insisted on guarantees that people would still want vaccine when it was ready. Big pharma is huge lobby, and I'm sure paid off a few R's almost as much as D's to keep their states in fear.
When big pharm thinks they've made enough money and there is enough demand to keep a covid vaccine on the market just like the flu vaccine, they'll tell their politicians that things can relax.

The number one appeal to voters is name recognition, even over substance.
As long as there is an illusion of safety or financial help, the common man will keep voting for the names they recognize.

I’ve have been doing my best to limit the spread of this virus. That means mask wearing, social distance, not going to events, etc. I want to be clear, that those are MY choices, I am very anti Big Government.
But stats have proven there is no stopping or slowing down this Wuhan Flu. Go about your day, respect people’s space and pray the vaccine is as advertised and comes out very very soon.
