Yes, but I don’t have any neighbors within 1/2 mile

I did after Laura, because it was too hot to sleep any other way. Now, Since it is about to get cool, I would probably run it enough to keep the freezer frozen, charge up cell phones, and watch a little tv (which you can do all at once).

The only people who hear this are people who are not running their generators too. They're probably miserable people anyway which is why they're okay living in misery after the storm. So in short, frick them.

Expect a visit from your HOA.

IMO the sound is not bad at all. More of a white noise type of sound. Not like some bass booming or sporadic loud noises.

Have Honda inverter generator, as quiet as you can get, you can stand next to it on the phone, and the person on the other end will not hear it. Also great fuel economy. Have run it for 14 days straight only shutting off long enough to refuel and check the oil.

Generator noise has never bothered me. You run what you need to run. These are not “no disturbance times”.

Did one of you bawd just call into scoot and ask about generator conflicts?

Wtf is the point in having a generator if you aren’t going to use it to sleep in a cool house

Smart man, little air cooled gas engines aren't constant duty, they'll fail pretty early on in their life running 24/7.

Yes, but I have an inverter generator which is incredibly quiet. Can't even hear it running in my own home. It gets about 12 hours per fill up when I am maxing it out.
It purrs like a car idling. You can actually have a quiet conversation over it.
They cost more, but are very much worth it.

How you going to tell if someone steals it? Run it all night, burn that gas!
Posted on 10/29/20 at 6:18 am to TigerHax1000
I was a little worried about someone stealing mine (I had one stolen that wasn't being used before) so I put a chain around it while running it.
I agree with you. Unless you are sleeping you should definitely know if someone is trying to steal it.

Wrong IMO. It’s not going to get any hotter running it for hours than it will in say the first 30 min. Change the oil every couple day and rock on.

So what were generators built to do then? They aren’t lawn mowers meant to run for an hour at a time, a generator is literally built to run all day. Most people need then a handful of times a year. Doing that or for a hurricane is literally their life.

I run mine just about all night unless it starts to get too warm in the house then I may cut the space heaters and furnace down. I do keep the generator in the hallway with my bedroom door closed. Never put the generator in the same room you are sleeping in!
