Hearing gunfire on a regular basis - what’s your tolerance level.

We live in the middle of the city. Relatively safe neighborhood, but it’s pretty common to hear gunfire a few nights a week, from surrounding,,not so nice neighborhoods. Generally a few miles away.

What could you personally deal,with?

It’s bothering my wife, although it’s nothing new really.

I've heard it 3-4 times at my house in BR. I'd prefer it to be zero unless it's hunters. It's not hunters where I am.

I'm not living on the same side of a city with gunfire on any nights. that's an indication of some very crappy neighborhoods. not living anywhere near those.

Depends on what you think it is coming from. A couple of my neighbors go out in the afternoons and shoot into cow pasture behind the neighborhood. Sometimes we join them sometimes we don’t. If I thought it was coming from people actually shooting at each other I would GTFO.

I hear gunfire at my house every single damn day.

But it's my wife or I making that noise.

I wouldn't have heard it inside but I like to sit outside on the back porch and listen to the radio at night. I've heard gunshots a few times although generally not very close to me. Sounds travel far at night. Sherwood/Coursey/Jones Creek area.

Does gunshot noise have a range of a few miles in the city?

Hearing it in town would be very concerning to me, unless I knew it was someone target practicing.

At night it's pretty easy for you to hear a mile or two away. I know of an incident that happened at Sherwood Acres apartments on Coursey a few years ago. Probably 20 shots and I was sitting outside at the time. It's probably 1.5 miles from us as the crow flies but it sounded close at midnight.

When I hear it, I normally step out on the porch and empty a mag from my MP-5. 30 rounds in 2 secs. That sends them a message.

I hear it 3-4 times a month

We're in town Atlanta about a mile from a railroad track where Mexican dudes shoot bottles

Doesn't bother me unless it's abnormal type/distance, but I do enjoy NextDoor and our neighborhood FB group freaking out as if it doesn't happen every week

I have a neighbor who sometimes shoots what seems like something kin to a cannon. Anything less than that doesn't even register anymore.

Pretty high. One of the hospitals that I do some rotations at is in a po dunk WV town that has been hard hit by the meth and opioid crisis. Hear gun shots at least one per week when working there.
