I dont know what flag is flying at the cafe in Slidell, but last time a poster on FB complained about a "Nazi" flag, it was Norwegian. People are stupid.
My wife’s family is from Norway. We have a small Norwegian flag sitting on a piece of dining buffet. Guy installing our alarm thought it was a confederate flag. People are dumb.

I posted earlier that the food looks good as hell. What would you recommend to someone who has never been there?
Have only been there like 2X since I moved from Slidell but ate there last weekend. Had my usual grilled YFT sandwich and onion rings. Ms. AlwysATgr had a french dip. It was all very good.
Fun restaurant. Very good food IMO. About a 30 minute wait on Saturday night.I hope this misguided attack only increases his business.

Dude, just walk away from this. You've been wrong from the start and you keep trying to justify it but you're just making it worse.

They serve a bowl of gumbo with seafood gumbo on one side, chicken/sausage on the other side and a "levee" of potato salad down the middle dividing them.
It's amazing!

As of this morning on their FB they are taking the flag down.
All this tough guy Marine talk and he kowtows to the mob like a cheap tent. He must be a Drew Brees fan

Update--The flag has been removed upon the request of the donor and will be offered to the World War II Museum as a positive way to reach more people and educate them about the atrocities committed by the Nazi regime.
We will continue our tradition of honoring our veterans and the sacrifices each of their families have made and appreciate the passionate discourse this has created.
Thanks to everyone for the overwhelming support!
Some of you may or may not be aware that we've recently come under attack for our World War II display which includes a Nazi flag. This flag was donated by the family of the Marine that captured the flag during combat in Germany during World War II.
We have displays from World War II, Korea and the Vietnam wars that include flags and pictures that were donated by our customers. None of these flags were purchased. The plaques on each flag explain their origin. They are on display to honor the sacrifices made by those families and all the veterans who came before and after them.

I think he’d rather sleep under a roof and eat hot meals than be correct.

I wonder if his grandfather is disappointed in him like Brees’ is

According to the article, the person that donated the flag asked him to remove it. I would think that relationship is more important than being a bad arse marine and standing your ground. And yes, I have no problem with the display in question and think it’s a cool piece of history for the family and this has been blown way out of proportion.

But they’ll keep up the flag of the group that bayoneted pregnant women and committed worse atrocities than the Germans

They must have gotten to the donor and threatened him. That’s what the prog army does. They’ll harass people until they find the weak link.

They weren't white. It's OK.

Since most Americans under the age of probably 70 have no fricking clue what the Jap flag looks like, it gets a hall pass.

Dan is a true Patriot..a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam war and was awarded the Silver Star if my memory serves me correct.

So let me set the record straight. I'm the managing partner of Southside Cafe and business partner of the Marine.
We do not own any of the memorabilia or pictures that hang on our walls. They are displayed at the request of the donor. If the donor requests that picture or memorabilia be returned, we return it. We hang these items to honor their families along with the Veterans that came before and after them. We had no intention of removing the flag.
We appreciate the support we've received on this thread. But, before you start insulting people you don't even know you should get the facts. I'd be glad to give any TD guys a tour of our place. And if you are so inclined, you can insult us to our face.

"THE WW2 MUSEUM HAD SOME ON DISPLAY ALSO!!! AND GUNS!!!! I WAS APPALLLLLLLLLLLLLED!!!!"
The guy is a military man who displays militaria and symbols of the evil our military has vanquished. Anyone who has an issue with that should go back to their shell.
