The school is docking itself eight football scholarships over a two-year period and reducing recruiting visits, evaluations and communication after a nearly two-year investigation uncovered booster payments to the father of a football player, sources tell Sports Illustrated. The school is banning from its facilities for two years ex-LSU receiver and current NFL star Odell Beckham Jr., who distributed $2,000 worth of $100 bills during a wild scene that unfolded on the field following LSU’s win over Clemson in the national championship game in the New Orleans Superdome.

booster payments to the father of a football player
The father of former offensive lineman Vadal Alexander received $180,000 in stolen money from LSU booster John Paul Funes, who admitted in 2019 that he embezzled more than half a million dollars from Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. The money was payment from 2012 to 2017 for what the NCAA characterized as a “no-show job.”

Don't we only have like 65 guys on scholarship as it is?

The penalties will not impact the team’s ability to sign the maximum of 25 newcomers a year
We are low as shite on schollys right now anyway, with normal attrition we could sign 25 kids each year and probably not get back to 85, so if this means we are just limiting ourselves to 81/year for the next 2 years it might not amount to much

Why are we not smart enough to distribute the wealth as well as the other schools?

This is great timing considering there's no way we can obviously get close to 85 scholarship guys this year or next

Penalties seem pretty fair considering this all occurred under Joe Alleva and Les Miles watch.
Well this is a self imposed penalty that has yet to be accepted by the NCAA. Let’s hope they do accept it and it ends here.
All of if this Vadal Alexander... good player but damn that hurts

There’s more to the story with the olol scandal and Alexander’s dad. It wasn’t a pay for play deal.
