Do kids still give a shite about The Great Pumpkin?

We watched it in the 70s, but only because there were only 3 channels, and we watched anything that was a cartoon. But, as a kid, I always thought it was weak as hell.

It's an American tradition. It's something that parents and grandparents enjoy sharing with their kids.

I was in that first generation of kids who saw the Peanuts specials as they premiered. After the initial Coca~Cola sponsorship, it was Dolly Madison commercials every year.

The shows still had good ratings for ABC. People still watched.

Having these holiday specials available on demand kills a lot of the magic IMO.

ABC would air Great Pumpkin and Charlie Brown Christmas twice each season, plus keep them on their free streaming service so that it was available throughout the holidays.

Now it's DVD time.

The twitter comments on AppleTv+ are insane. People are pissed. They are gonna have no choice but to fix this. Horrible PR.

From what I read, ABC didn't want to renew the contact for the specials.

Frick Apple, they can die in a fire. Just reminds me why I will never buy one of their products. Greedy bastards.

They better fix this. Charlie Brown better be on network by the end of this week.

Anyone can watch it on YouTube. I did last night.

And you can skip the dumb Snoopy/Schroeder scene that makes no sense in the context of a Halloween episode.

You mean skip Snoopy fighting the Red Baron? That's the best part.

I watch the episode for Halloween fun, not some random Red Baron fight that could have been inserted into any cartoon.

It sure is. I've watched "The Great Pumpkin" sometime during Halloween week every year (33 yrs old). I now have kids and get to enjoy it with them.

* Found an article stating it's streaming exclusively on AppleTV+

I'll suggest the grown up alternative of WKRP in Cincinnati
episode of the Thanksgiving Turkey give away.

As God is my witness

Oh, the humanity.
