Damone Clark is the guy who been one of the most disappointing players. It’s all bad, but he has been a problem.

Actually it shows them confused with lack of confidence in Pelini defense philosophy.

A refusal to even attempt a tackle has NOTHING to do with scheme or philosophy.

These guys wouldn’t have made the tackle if it was flag football. Simply put, their effort wasn’t shite...it was non-existent. frick off with excuses.

The gif appears to show Stevens thinking Stingley was gonna turn and make the tackle and let up(wasn't gonna catch him) and Stingley just watched him run by while chasing his man. Just in perception it appears Stingley knows but doesn't attempt but that's without knowing context. Could've been completely innocent.
The more telling part of the play on Stingleys part is that his man blew his doors off and easily could've been the target on the play. He was beaten from the jump in that route.

Yup Stingley knew who had the ball and did not pursue... IMO this defense has quit this defensive coaching staff....

The only one playing zone was Stevens.

Everyone else was in man.

The defense has quit. It is time to start cleaning house and dismiss a few players. The non-starters can do no worse than the starters are playing. Something drastic has to be done right now or the whole thing is going to implode. Although it might just be too late.

He had safety help. Watch it again.

I can't believe so many people are trying to throw Stingley under the bus.

How do you come to that conclusion? He was guarding the tightend. Stevens assignment was back out of the backfield. Stevens appears to think the back was heading to the flats...when the back cut back to the middle Stevens was beat.

What I'm seeing is Stingley was past the play and in no way could have stopped on a dime, reversed course and get anyway near the runner

This.

He is an amazing talent, but not superhuman.

If you really want to know who f'd up on that play it was Cox. Stevens is looking at the close in slot and Clark is supposed to take the RB but he gets occupied by the TE crossing and doesn't trust that Cox is going to take him mainly because Cox is looking the other way. Stevens is confused, but it's Clark who was responsible for filling that gap.

between this play and those that think we can't possibly win any remaining games because those teams are better than Missouri just speaks to how clueless many posters are about football.

It's painfully obvious what happened with Stingley on that play. That some still don't know what happened is very telling.

Pelini isn't too old. Just unwilling to adapt. Shula and Bear were constantly adapting.

The way Stingley whipped around at the end tells me he didn’t know that guy had the ball, which is why he ran past the play.

This was my initial reaction as well. I also got the feeling that he was trying to play both receivers. Meaning either Stingley was unsure of his assignment, or he saw someone else miss the assignment underneath and was trying to compensate. If Stingley’s actual assignment was to stick with the guy on the crossing route, he’s got to do that. Otherwise you’re asking to get burned on a pump fake.

It’s been stated many times, but whenever you’re trying to think about your assignment at game speed, you will look slow.

I’m not ready to call Stingley’s effort into question - I saw him make too many tackles on inside runs last week to do that.

Clean house including Bo and his dough. Players that aren't putting out effort, show 'em the door. What happens next year if someone hurts their little feelings or they don't like the coach? Send the message NOW. How does a continual collapse each week with no effort, make you better in the future. Hell, let O be the defensive coordinator and earn his money. Players can't run the program.

It's not the coach. It's effort by the players..it's obvious

It looks like Stingley didn’t even knew he had the ball
