They think that democrats are literally agents of satan. I'm not making this up. And there are millions of these people in this country.
Yet recent surveys of americans have found that people think if biden loses, there would be worse riots/post-election violence than if trump loses re-election.

there are crazies on both sides. They don't represent a sliver of what most americans are, luckily.

I remember this people during the bush years. Nothing ended up happening.

The 2018 midterms didn't result in any violence, nor have any special elections.

Yeah, that's all it is, anyway.

Hillary LAST MONTH said that biden shouldn't concede UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
Hey calm down. She has no power and is not running, who cares? Also, this is clearly a response to Trump's rhetoric. And now I'll pull from your playbook and say that I'm not excusing her tactics here. She just doesn't matter, and it amuses me that people care so much what she says.

Former Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams on Sunday refused to describe her Republican opponent Brian Kemp as the legitimate new governor. In an interview on CNN’s State of the Union, Abrams suggested voter suppression played a role in the state’s gubernatorial election
Again, so what? She doesn't have legions of rabid followers.

To clarify, I'm not worried about Trump not leaving office, or about the specific things he says he will or won't do. The concern is how people will behave as a response to his rhetoric.

what exactly do you think people will do? Storm washington? declare their towns/counties "trump counties" and secede?

Everything is going to be fine.

this entire nation, everyone both left and right, needs to take one giant collective chill pill. As a columnist I like to read recently wrote

"I am tired of every single political development in america being turned up to setting 11"

The happiest people I know in life are the people who don't watch any news and barely know what is going on. Sometimes I wonder if that lifestyle isn't better for the country.

Now we believe surveys?

We can't know, neither before nor after the fact, which result would end in more violence because only one sequence of events will happen. I have little doubt that there will be extreme protests and probably violence should biden lose, especially if he wins the popular vote and a republican wins via the EC yet again. Would you blame the citizens of any other supposedly democratic nation for rioting if 3 out of the last 4 times that a particular party won the presidency, they did so with the minority of the populace supporting it?

You have more confidence in that statement than I do.

Bush never had anywhere near the influence over people that Trump does, for whatever reason. People were not so divided. There was not already protests going on at the time.

Again, tensions were nowhere near as high, and neither were the stakes. I hope I am wrong, obviously, but I am almost certain that the post-election fallout will dwarf all the protests of the last few months.

Yep.

You laugh, but I absolutely see some of that being attempted.

Maybe not to the degree, but my side acted grotesquely towards anyone who opposed Iraq war and other bush foreign policy. We accused those opposed to the wars as being traitors, against the troops, haters of America, etc. the keynote speaker at the RNC in 2004, zell Miller, accused John Kerry, a veteran, of intentionally voting against sending armor and supplies to the troops because he thought they were occupiers.

It was a disgusting spectacle.

So while bush himself didn’t have the cult of personality trump does, I think those early foreign policy years after 9/11 were a “cult of personality” of their own.

My side played a large role in the planting of the seeds of the horrendous division

Here, here

I only know a handful of people still living in fear of COVID, but I do pity those people unable to cope with the idea that COVID is never going away.

Those that channel that fear to advocate for lockdowns at this point are incredibly naive people who are promoting ineffective tactics and have destroyed our economy in ways we won’t totally be feeling for several more months. It’s a diabolical idealogy.

The mail in ballots and all the talk of election fraud has been a HUGE topic for months. It's all over the poli board, and you post there on occasion. You even posted in debate threads, so I imagine you watched at least some of it. I find it hard to believe that you have no idea that he's been priming his cult to cry foul should he lose.

I did watch a lot of the debate. I have heard Trump talk about it but I don’t understand the circumstances with it, especially how it seems to be different by states. I just simply don’t pay much attention to it. I even posted on political talk weeks ago I’m not concerned with it and got reamed on there. I don’t post on there THAT much

Do you deny that the vast majority of Trumpers will claim fraud if he loses? Trump himself primes that pump every single day in no uncertain terms.

Intellectual dishonesty at its finest. Coming from the party that has tried to delegitimize Trump’s presidency for 4 years.

You do know that the Democrats have been “priming that pump” by claiming he’s a dictator and will refuse to leave office, while still saying Biden should not concede under any circumstances, etc?

The fact is we have PROOF the Democrats attempted to steal the last election (Russiagate fraud, the COUP) and proof this cycle (Project veritas, Pennsylvania indictments, etc)—so why wouldn’t he bring it up? Democrats will do anything to steal the election

You absolutely are making that up.

Scruffy finds it hilarious how that is the stance of you progressives, but y’all completely ignore the most expensive riots/destruction in US history over the previous 6 months.

Yea, it’s the group of individuals who haven’t destroyed anything that everyone should be worried about.
