You can say what you want about O, but we avoided that total overpaid bust

Don't hate on Tom. He has earned a new distinction. Since 2017 he has lost more games as a ranked team to unranked teams (6) than any coach in CFB.

If I’m being honest, I think Herman would have had a lot more success taking over at LSU than UT. LSU was a little down at the time, sure. But it was nowhere near the rebuild at Texas. Herman likely would have modernized LSU’s offense immediately as well.

OTOH, I think the rebuild at UT has really highlighted Herman’s negatives - he has not looked like a very good leader or motivator. Qualities Orgeron has in spades. And Herman is underperforming his recruiting classes, which makes you question his ability to manage a high profile program, fit the pieces together, etc.

We got so lucky to get O and not Jimbo or Herman. I guess Garth Brooks was right.

Tom would prob do ok at lsu. LSU is one of the easier schools to succeed at.

That might have been the worst officiated games I've ever seen. The ending made no sense. Also, I agree that Herman has been underwhelming at Texas, but this season is gonna have to have a whole bunch of asterisks next to it when it's over. The weird schedule, fricked up offseasons, and new way of life put in place for these players because of covid has made this year much more....interesting than a normal season.

You can thank Alleva who made everything possible for us to be champion last year.
Idiots at LSU thought he should be fired...simply morons

Tom Herman sucks! I freaking hate that dude! Truth be told however, I can say with complete confidence that if he was our coach in the spring of 2018, then Joe Burrow signs with LSU. Reuniting with the guy who recruited him to Ohio St. and fought hard for him to receive the offer. Of course, we probably never bring in Joe Brady and it could never have worked out as magically as it did with all the perfect ingredients as it did. But, Herman would have been wildly more successful at LSU and would have had a great shot at winning it all last year as well. Joe Burrow is and would have always wound up being Joe Burrow. Even running Tom Herman's offense along with the other offensive weapons we had on our team.

The Rant has a terrible record of hiring Head Coaches.
We hired Aleva's third choice and The Rant's bottom ten choice and its worked out great.

At the time, when many were crying in their beer and wetting themselves over the “loss” of Herman, a few pointed out that head coaching hires are a crapshoot. There are no lead pipe cinch, home run hires.

Orgeron was the safe hire. He can recruit and motivate. At worst he would leave his successor a good roster (like he did at Ole Miss.

I actually think Herman probably would have succeeded at LSU, he just had no real interest in coming over here and used us as a bargaining chip to get more money from Texas

Jimbo though, we dodged a bullet on that one. aggy should be gunning for the playoffs by now but they're nowhere past looking like an 8-4 squad. I think we would have been wishing for Les Miles to come back if we had gotten Jimbo

Yeah he’s not the answer. We don’t know what the future holds for O, but Herman will never win a NC
