Nonetheless, it’s amazing what comes out of these hurricane threads. Grain silo death stories today.

And then yesterday we had the guy who admitted to drinking his wife’s breast milk pouches like they were fricking Capri Suns from the fridge, and was mad because they went bitter.

Can’t make this shite up.

Exactly, rainfall totals should be kept in check because it is moving quite quickly at landfall.

but I think take off windspeed cutoff is 30-40kts?

Yeah there is a crosswind component limit. For most airliners it's around 25-35kts.

I wonder and worry about 777Tiger. He's been AWOL.

Projected landfall is 1PM, nobody can tell if you flight is for sure going to be cancelled but it seems pretty obvious

Honestly.... They might do it. It all depends on the conditions at MSY, inflight, and at destination.
It could be 100mph in Lafayette but Nola might be 20-30.

Do not count on this though. It's more unlikely than likely.

At 10 go to the NHC site and look at the reasonable arrival time or tropical storm force winds. You should get some idea of when the wind would arrive.

Satellite imagery suggests that #Delta has a healthy core structure compared to last night, with a nearly complete ring of buoyant updrafts around the eye. If Delta doesn't spend long enough over land to disrupt this structure, it will be poised to strengthen after reaching ~90W.

When was the last time Lafayette had hurricane force winds? Anybody know?

Got close with Laura but I think the highest was 70mph.
Probably Gustav but that wasn't even bad for us here.
This one will be the worst in a long time for sure.

my weather station shows 72.5MPH as highest sustained wind ever recorded and highest gust was 97.5MPH. not sure which storm, my station is about out of storage space so over writing data.

This is kind of my 48 hour pre landfall crusade.

It’s not even a fight though. I’m either right or wrong. People think it’s absurd to say, but the more you think about it, I’m probably not too far off. Anyway, 10am is about to drop.
