Games like God of War and the Naughty Dog games have always been Playstation exclusives, just like Halo and Gears of War have always been Xbox exclusives. The difference is that Fallout and Elder Scrolls started on PC and have been on all consoles. They weren't created as platform exclusives.

Maybe they will make the new titles exclusive to Xbox/PC for a year before making it to the PS platform. This is all very exciting news since I am a huge fan of Fallout and who doesn't like the Elder Scrolls series?

Finally Microsoft making some moves. Maybe. Surely fallout and elder scrolls will be on PC. All is well.

That's what I figure as well, especially with the rumors and timed exclusivity of GTA. This would be their fire back. But they may view putting them on game pass day 1 to be along the same lines as timed exclusivity.

There are also rumors they met with bungie about re-adding them and giving them more creative control over destiny than what Activision gave them and teaming up with 343 to fix Halo. Would make sense with everything they've talked about with Halo Infinite online sounding like what bungie has done with destiny 2 since leaving Activision.

You now also have obsidian and Bethesda under same umbrella for fallout remasters and new games if Microsoft can get them to play nice together

i dont give a shite about Bungie, they're pretty much an entirely different studio from the Halo days and Destiny caters to the lowest common denominator. Activision can keep them for all I care.

would love for Obsidian and Bethesda to work together on a new fallout. please god

People laughing at Sony for actually forcing Microsoft to try and get better games. They ought to be thanking Sony for moves like this. Competition is healthy and good.

Microsoft took one of the best games ever made (Minecraft) and quickly turned it into cancer.

This is terrible news for gamers everywhere.

As for the PS5/Xbox thing, Microsoft allowed Minecraft to continue on PS4, they just put it behind and lagged the updates, expect something similar (games coming out on Xbox first, then months later PS5)

The first thing Microsoft did was clean up Mojang and distance themselves from Notch, then turned Minecraft into a cancer in-app purchase wasteland. I wouldn't be comfortable with what they have in store for Bethesda. Hope I'm wrong.
I will say this is a great move for Microsoft if they handle it properly.

Wild arse deal.

This is the type of stuff Xbox needs to compete.
I am surprised they did this. Good for them.

They just spent $7.5 billion on this acquisition. They're not going to release Starfield, Elder Scrolls VI, and others on the PS5 for $60. If all they wanted was Game Pass availability on day one with the games still releasing on the PS5, they could have paid ZeniMax a fraction of that for that type of deal.

Instead, they bought out the entire company, because they want to incentivize people to migrate to PC and Xbox. The more time gamers spend on PC and Xbox, the more likely they are to spend money on Game Pass and other microtransactions/expansions for Microsoft's titles.

Oh wow that is huge news. I'm sure exclusives will come out of this, but I don't even care. Looking forward to all of the games from all of those developers being placed on Game Pass.

Anyone still want to pretend they don't see the value of Game Pass?

I just see tons of lost revenue from something like the next Fallout or Skyrim follow-up.

And really, I would rather MS use this to make Sony play nice, rather than to continue the terrible practice of exclusivity.

Could you imagine only allowing Todd Howard to release an Elder Scrolls game on two devices? He would commit suicide.
