So many mixed messages being sent these days.

According to WKRC-TV, Little Miami High School in Morrow, Ohio, opted to suspend Brady Williams and Jarad Bentley after they expressed their support for first responders before a Sept. 11 football game.
Brady, a senior cornerback whose father is a police officer, said that he was not trying to make a political statement at all in carrying the Thin Blue Line flag.
"I was just doing it to honor the people that lost their lives 19 years ago," he said.
Jarad — whose father is a firefighter — carried the Thin Red Line flag and told WKRC that he was thinking about his father at the time.

The station reports that Brady and Jarad requested permission from the school ahead of time, but were reportedly denied.
quote:
Superintendent Gregory Power told the station that he was sticking firmly to the decision.
"We can't have students who decide to do something anyway after they've been told that they shouldn't be doing it," Power said, arguing that the apparently divisive flags were symbols of political controversy.
"We did not want to place ourselves in a circumstance where another family might want a different flag to come out of the tunnel, one that may be [one that] many other families may not agree with from a political perspective," Power reasoned.

I saw a tweet that said they reviewed it and determined it wasn't politically motivated, so they reinstated them.

So the schools decided to take politics out of sports?
Shouldn't y'all be happy about this?

An Ohio high school has reinstated two football players after they were suspended for defying administrators by carrying flags at the start of a game that signaled support of law enforcement.
Video shows the players for Ohio’s Little Miami High School led their teammates in running onto the field at the home game Friday, the 19th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Monday.
They carried flags colored with a blue stripe and red stripe that signal support for police and other law enforcement.
The school said a ceremony held before the game honored the people killed in the 9/11 attacks.

It was a 9/11 ceremony/remembrance/tribute.

But doesn't this fall under "they should have just complied"?

Sounds like they chose a side. Do you think they’d suspend players for kneeling during the anthem? Nah.

banning pro police and pro firefighter flags is taking politics out of sports to you? interesting

It was a legit misunderstanding. My kids' High School won't tolerate ANY kind of political stuff on their masks or clothes. It's best this way to keep the peace. No "Blue lives matter" Vs BLM fights and such.
But this gesture was honoring the fallen First Responders to 9/11, not a "blue lives matter" statement.
All is well for just a second.

If you support the police, you're racist.

imagine comparing children being patriots carrying pro police and pro fireman flags onto their home football field vs those breaking the law and at times being violent towards our police officers.

Unless they thought it was more of a "Blue Lives Matter", which is pretty much an FU to Black Lives Matter.

In my opinion, football is no place to be bringing political views regardless of whether I agree with those views or not. I’m glad the school put a stop to it.

Dude, all day long this site preaches "just follow the rules and there will be no trouble". Whatever you think of the decision to not allow it, they were told not to and did it anyways. That's the long and short of the situation.
