Yes, indeed as of September 13th, 2020 there was compelling and rather robust evidence suggested by Scientists at Massachusetts Institute Of Technology, Cardiff University and elsewhere, have observed what may be signs of life in the clouds of Venus, to be announced on September 14th, 2020. The paper will be published on September 14th, 2020 in the peer-reviewed journal Nature. The scientists will also hold a press conference via Zoom to present their findings. The findings were produced using the James Clark Maxwell Telescope in Hawaii and the Atcama Large Millimeter Array in Chile.

the molecule phosphine is the possible smoking gun for the presence of permanent microbial life
quote:

The volume of Phosphine observed was stunning. They ruled out minerals blown into the atmosphere, volcanism, lightning and other known sources as there is simply no process that could maintain this abundance. So much Phosphine was observed we could conclude that the atmosphere of Venus is “teaming with life”.

quote:

Perhaps, we are not alone.
Perhaps, we have never been alone.
Perhaps, the abundance we see when we view the cosmos is as much an abundance of new life, as it is an abundance of billions of stars and planets.
Perhaps, we will be the first to know this definitively.

pretty cool

I am of the belief that finding evidence of simple life in the universe would be amongst the worst news ever for humanity.

It means the "great filter" is more likely to be ahead of us than something we miraculously passed through already.

if, in fact, there is another planet, in our Solar System, that has an appreciable amount of life, then given the sheer volume of stars in the universe, along with the age of the universe and how much longer it's going to be around, then it can almost certainly be surmised that intelligent life has existed, does exist, or is destined to happen somewhere other than Earth...

Not really. “Simple life” could be prokaryotic and not eukaryotic with the great filter being the jump to eukaryotic life.

So now the “law of averages” is part of the scientific method huh? Regardless of observation, it must be true!!

on Venus thought it would likely have gone backwards. It’s in the Goldilocks zone and if not for the catatstrophic greenhouse effect it could possibly be habitable

if there were an event that triggered the CO2 oven then what is in the atmosphere may be the last evolutionary vestige of a formerly alive planet

if the thesis is correct and there is microbial life in venus’ atmosphere the habitual zone of the atmosphere is huge, relatively speaking. If the microbes can survive/reproduce then yes it’s likely that that zone is fairly teeming in quantity if not diversity

Yeah, you’re right bro. We should cease all scientific inquiry. We don’t need it. We have the Bible.

Well yea. Most common statistical methods used deal with central tendencies around the mean.
