I like the hypothesis that advanced alien life visited here millennia ago, found nothing of interest or import, left and don’t plan to come back. Somewhat like how we treat the moon.

Perhaps, we are not alone.
Perhaps, we have never been alone.
Perhaps, the abundance we see when we view the cosmos is as much an abundance of new life, as it is an abundance of billions of stars and planets.
Perhaps, we will be the first to know this definitively.
Imagine thinking we are alone in the universe. Such hubris

those terran microbes have evolved in a completely different way and survive under completely different environmental circumstances
Not all microbes are fastidious. Many can use a wide variety of nutrients for energy. There are even microbes that can perform autotrophy without the use of energy from the sun. Some microbes have vast genomes that have physiological pathways which can be unlocked under the right environmental conditions.

if, in fact, there is another planet, in our Solar System, that has or had an appreciable amount of life, then given the sheer volume of stars in the universe, along with the age of the universe and how much longer it's going to be around, then it can almost certainly be surmised that intelligent life has existed, does exist, or is destined to happen somewhere other than Earth...
yep.

How many times have I said that 2020 is going to end with aliens. While the date might be off and this isn't exactly the aliens you'd expect I was still right

Hate to mix reality in to this sci-fi fantasy.
Must have some really hot women there.

The average temperature on Venus is 864 degrees Fahrenheit (462 degrees Celsius). Temperature changes slightly traveling through the atmosphere, growing cooler farther away from the surface. Lead would melt on the surface of the planet, where the temperature is around 872 F (467 C).

Ehhh we are pretty special. We can’t even explain our own existence on earth. The combinatorial problem proves not enough time has passed for mutation/natural selection to explain how we exist. The probability that we are here is insanely small even for the universe’s standards

At the level where the clouds are, about 30 miles up from the surface, it's about the same temperature as on the surface of the Earth.

quote:Quick correction, dolphins and whales did leave the ocean, then they went back. That's not to take away from your point, as it actually reinforces the idea that very intelligent creates are more likely to develop on land considering some of the smartest sea creatures evolved from land animals.
it takes land-based evolution to evolve toward civilization. In other words, look at dolphins and whales as examples of highly evolved species that have not developed civilizations because they never left the ocean.
Although octopuses are very smart as well.

You can't convince some people the moon landing happened, vaccines are not the cause of autism, evolution is real, and climate change is a threat. Do we really believe we'll convince them life exists on another planet they will never step foot on?

evolution is real
Evolution is good at explaining minor changes to species but it has failed to explain new phyla. Also the math doesn’t check out, there simply hasn’t been enough time on earth with life for random mutation and natural selection to produce the proteins that exist in the most basic organisms, much less complex ones. Go read about the Cambrian Explosion. So much evidence has come out against evolution since the 1960s but everyone still pretends evolution is settled science

let’s get weird and talk about panspermia.
it seems unlikely that actual life is able to be transported through space, more likely it’s the building blocks which are dispersed and the chances of life are a dice roll.
if you accept that, then it’s likely then that the type of life that can assemble is as varied as is possible, to increase the odds of it taking.
Cephalopods are a striking example (and the only one we know of) of divergent evolution producing advanced intelligence. They are as different from the rest of the thinking creatures as could be imagined. They illustrate the immense likelihood that somewhere there is other thinking creatures, on other planets or moons.

I’m not trying to be a dick I just want to see the specific evidence you are talking about because I’m interested and I don’t want to assume you are talking about some quackery

Octopus are legit aliens. I’m fully convinced they could kill us all if they wanted to

Not surprising. I mean since the discovery of chemosynthesis organisms a lot has become probable. It's only a matter of time.

Watch the video I linked above. I’m not a science genius by any stretch but the Cambrian explosion and the problem with the math on DNA just somehow appearing from nothing are huge issues in my mind. We didn’t understand how complex the DNA/RNA mechanisms were and we also didn’t understand how few protein combinations were functional. Even Darwin knew about the problem the Cambrian Explosion presented to his theory but it’s still ignored when evolution is discussed. I never learned about it until I started reading about origin theories myself.
